High demand for Titan X exceed supply

Would be absolute hell on if AMD released a card around the same performance and charged around the same price, we actually saw it with the 7970, although that was slightly faster than the 580, AMD charged a higher than their normal price for that, and so on every forum a going, there was massive threads on it, everyone slating AMD to absolute buggery for it.

The 7970 was far better than the GTX 580.
Although AMD's pricing was wayyyy off, Nvidias 680 launched at the same price as the 7950 a month after the 7950 launched lol.

Well that's a lie. If you loved it as much as me you wouldn't still have a 7950.

I was being serious. Not trolling. With regards to this post. The 7950 has played all games so far with medium or high settings at a framerate that is playable for me. So I can still love gaming as much as any.

Its absolutely mind blowing how so many people can afford to spend almost a thousand quid on a damn graphics card.

I love gaming as much as the next person, and although Ill be upgrading my 7950 later in the year. I honestly cant understand how someone can justify the cost of such a thing just to get some more frames per second in a few games. Absolute madness.

There must be a correlation between Titan X owners and single virgins living with their Mother.

If you have the funds and its something you want and enjoy then why the hell not? Good luck I say to all the folks who bought one (or two, three, four!).:D

I can appreciate people are richer than others and can splash out on things. Fast cars etc. However I find something so expensive for such a small return is quite insane.

I understand people defending it. Just felt like voicing my opinion :D

Its like people who buy a Rolex over a Casio, Prada shoes over a cheaper high street brand and so on, some folks just like to pay the premium for an exclusive or high end product. PC components are no different really. :)

Well, how it works is, you have a job or start up a company or something, make some money and then spend some of that money on whatever you want.
It not rocket science. Unless you actually make your money as a rocket scientist, then it probably is rocket science.

Well I was waiting at the railway gates, however the train has just careered down the high street and is embedded in Primark...

I wonder why Nvidia embargoed Inno3d and a few others....

The thing is, people who are really rich aren't the kind that sit around playing pc games. Why would anyone sit playing CoD when they could afford to be rocking their prada on a yacht somewhere surrounded by gold diggers :D

The average pc gamer should probably be sinking a few hundred on a mid-high end card and the other 600 on something else. The games aren't good enough to justify it.

So because there is an average it means that high end and low end should cease to exist? That makes sense. Lets all drive Mondeos and tell all the other car makers to shut up shop while we are at it.

The thread is about the surprisingly high sales of the product. So I'm okay to say that in my opinion it's pretty crazy. Cars aren't really a fair comparison because the difference between a 20k mondeo and a 60k m3 would be massive. It wouldn't be comparable to the difference between a 300 quid card and a 900 quid card.

Someone from Lincolnshire with 'Hobbit' in their username making semi-derisory comments about mother lovin' and familial living arrangements. The irony.

Can everyone chill out. How people choose to spend their own hard earned cash is no one's ****ing business but their own. However, if you are dole scum and you've bought a Titan X then you must surely die.

I'm going to quote my own post. Never done that before. I think it's warranted.

there's a world of difference between a 7950/7970 and a TX or a 970, the quality of the image/ movement/ mouse response/ smoothness, is literally a million times better.

my 7970 Sapphire Dual X really is total rubbish compared to the 970SLI...try it for yourself, because you'll be shocked at the difference in image quality

make sure you save the money and upgrade, because a 2nd hand 970 isn't exactly expensive is it

You were the one just saying that people who buy Titans should be out on their yacht instead of playing games, so...

900 quid and it can't pull 60fps minimum at 4k. So at that price. I still find it crazy. People don't need to be so defensive. It is very surprising that there is such a demand for this. It's success probably has a negative impact on the rate at which performance increases on the more affordable cards.

Not a great analogy really as cars are rather different than gadgets. A graphics card only draws an image on a screen but to some how fast it does that matters - the cards that do it best have a hefty premium. As it's pretty much the only thing it does it also matters a lot!
Also, it depends on how you look at it. A mondeo has four wheels and gets you from a to b as well as an M3. Driving through a town at 30mph or even where our maximum speed is 70mph isn't the M3 a waste? Some people are willing to pay for the high performance - 3 times as much. Same goes for technology. If you want the best you have to pay for it even though you may not necessarily need it.

Some BMW M cars are not massively faster than the next fastest in the range but the price is a lot higher - you're paying a premium for the ultimate the model of car can offer (people willing to pay a lot more that for a little improvement in all the important areas - braking, power, looks etc).

One could also argue you get what you pay for. An example of this - Titan 1 day 1 buyers didnt really need to upgrade for quite some time and that is probably the case of the TX
