Chuffed this afternoon with a great ride. Managed to average just over 30km/h for two hours. Albeit flat roads but it was very windy in parts! Really pleased with that.

Just been out for a spin with the disc wheel on the bike. Oh my god, that thing ROLLS! Get some speed up and the thunder begins. I know the old HED discs were known to be pretty loud, but whoever said you can't hear your own disc was lying :p

Went for a very pleasant 26 miles on my Sunday best fair weather only bike...

:p Oh well, I guess that is the trade off for having roads where you can cover mile after mile without seeing a car. I'll go and give it a clean up later.

EDIT - It has also developed a 'click' which sounds like it is coming from the stem area so I'll deploy the torque wrench as well.

Another bloomin' puncture , thats 2 in 10 days. Grrrr , which inner tubes are you guys recommending ? Both have been caused by small sharp bits of flint that ive found embedded through the tyre and into the tube.

I've been using the FWE ones from Evans http://www.evanscycles.com/products/fwe/700c-presta-valve-inner-tube-ec045288 and got them when they were 3 for 2. They are 0.87 and butyl so figured they'd be ok

Maybe its more about my tyres and they havnt got enough protection running through them ? I might choose between these :-

Done 50 miles out in the lovely Scottish Highlands from 11am as I'd had enough of waiting on it "clearing up"..... Spent the entire ride in cold, windy, muggy conditions and it was pretty miserable but not raining at least..... Got to the top of the mammoth hill that awaits me to the house after every ride and guess who shows up? THE SUN. It's absolutely golorious and warm outside now, I am admiring it as I sit on the floor clearing the muck off my frame.

If this is the Earths way of annoying me. It worked Earth. **** you!

Snap! Must be the cruddy roads round here!

I'd just finished cleaning the bike and was giving my tyres the once over. Found a few bits of grit that had worked their way in so I carefully dug them out. Got to what looked like a patch of dirt and dug it out then heard the "PTSCHHHHHHHH"

Going out to buy some new tyres because aside from two punctures in 121 miles  they look like they've been used as a pin cushion! Haven't got a clue what I'm going to be able to pick up as Halfords is my only option now but I'm not going to be without my bike for the rest of the bank holiday weekend.

I did say that the tyres on your new bike are crap when you posted it in the show off thread :) its the tyres that are letting you down! :) get some p4es or 4seasons.. Or Vittoria zafiro on the cheap - they're heavy but punctures were/are never a problem on my bikes!

What Grudas said^^^. Michelin Pro4 Endurance 25s

Any good deals on 10 speed chains? The chain on my best bike has 2500 miles on it and it's rusted over the winter so probably time to change it...

Any tips/thoughts on how I remove my Giant Defy 1 2015 chain? It's got quick links but I can't seem to get them apart? I have no special tool (although I do have a 'chain tool' I don't want to remove pins unless required?) so thought I could just use long nose pliers...

Took my cassette apart to give it a damn good clean, simple really but not got it back together yet ;)

Christened the Pinnacle properly today, took it to the local country park to a route I have done on the MTB in the past, rode up taking a few random path detours which was quite enjoyable.

Got a puncture about half way round the loop, tried to use some random sealant thing I had going, but the thing failed miserably and just went everywhere. Its the 3rd puncture I've had on it now, I think I need some slime tubes, as the tyres seem to come highly recommended!

Smashed it on the way back averaging about 20mph which isn't easy with the bigger tyres. Tailwind helped!

Clicking around the stem could be a loose headset. Loosen the stem, tighten the top cap, re-tighten the stem.
Forgot to say thanks for this suggestion Von :)

LOL three people in a row complaining about punctures, all riding Pinnacles. THEY'RE CURSED I TELLS YA! :p

Are those slime tubes any good? If so how come more people don't use them?

Well I should have known better than to try instore for tyres  Tried Halfords, Evans and the new Cycle Republic (basically a bikes only Halfords)

Halfords had the choice of Gatorskin rigids or own brand stuff.
Evans had Gatorskins or GP4000's in 23C. I think thats what they were, I was in shock slightly at the fact they were over £90 a pair :o
Cycle Republic had the best selection in 25C Gatorskins or Schwalbe Luganos for only double the price most places are selling them for online.

So in short the cack Kenda is back on. On the plus side it is much easier changing tubes when the wife is out as I can sit on the living room floor and do it :p
