BattleField Hardline Performance Review AMD vs Nvidia

Sure I can can go there, first up the 980 is a mid range part.

How is the 780ti doing against the 280 for example ? Nvidia's old high end part to AMD's mid range newer part ?

980 isn't mid range though its still there high end GPU. like 295x is AMDs highest end but the 290x is also there High end..

If the 980 is Mid range then so is the 290x

Maybe the overclock on the Matrix 290X is better than the overclock on the Matrix 980?

The stock versions of the cards are within a few FPS of each other in the other tests, so the numbers match up vaguely.

maybe thats bcos 980 has boost which is basically auto overclock and the 290 doesnt, so either turn boost off or overclock them both or its not very fair compare
...as fair as it can be for a card half the price

but anyway performance is good on both, better question is if this game is worth £50
i enjoyed the cars and drivebys but £50? hmhm lol

Erm AMD R9 series supports AMD PowerTune Technology, which is their boost technology. It is why AMD 290x'x show their clock speeds as up to 1000Mhz. that is their boost clock, rather than NVidia advertising the base clock and then the boost clock( which is sometimes very conservative.)
It is just the way they are advertised, not to say that one is better than the other. :)

Would go with these sources over TTL any day.

Having owned a 290, 290X, 970, 980 and a Titan X myself personally I'd have to agree with you. The benchmarks from these sources are far more accurate and more in line with what I've witnessed myself.

Everyone who saying the 980gtx is midrange must be mental. Mid range cost 450 these days does it.

In my book it goes;

Enthusiast: Titan Z/Titan X
High end: 980gtx
Mid/High end:970gtx
Mid range:960gtx

lol i wasnt talking about fair advertising i was talking about a fair compare in benchmarks
i guess they can say its the "out of the box" performance but still, either no overclocks and no boost or both oc'd to the max seems the only fair way
*shrug*

His numbers look suspect.

Guru3D had the 980 on top all the way except for 4k - http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/battlefield-hardline-vga-graphics-performance-review,6.html

Guru the 980 is 1 FPS faster @ 1440P

Techspot the 980 is 3 FPS faster @ 1600p

They are pretty much the same ^^^^

HARDOCP are using an XFX 290X that throttles like a reference cooled 290X.

These performance figures are always slow as hell when they use that GPU, i think its running at between 850 and 950Mhz once warm.. recently they used a Powercolor PCS+ for BF4, i think it was, it destroyed the XFX performance numbers from previous benchmarks with it.

It also depends on what part of the game they benchmark, unfortunately none of them publish that info now'a days. so no one can check their validity.
