I'm using an HJC IS-17, which I've had since I passed my text back in October.

I'm really pleased with it so far. It's got two vents, internal visor, chin guard, chin curtain, pinlock with quick visor removal, and it's really comfortable.

Just mulling over a tinted visor for the summer. What tint levels do people recommend?

I like HJC, I have 3 of them, and they fit me perfectly. It's like they have a copy of my head at their R&D site.

I mainly use my Shoei now though.

You lot should be grateful you have a choice of helmet. 8 just ended up with the biggest shoei they called 'the bucket' xr1100 nothing else was big enough.

Saying that it's fantastic.

Arai Axcess II, with the Arai Pro-shade visor. And a £35 bluetooth headset.

@Participant - get a dark tint. If it's sunny and I'm not going to be out in the dark/early morning I put on my dark tint Arai visor, it's perfect for bright sunny weather.

Honestly you're pretty lucky too, you almost certainly have more choice of helmets than I do, assuming you're 2 or 3XL. I have a 4XL head, I've never been able to find a 3XL helmet that goes past my forehead and that means in the whole world there's like 10 4XL helmets (that I can find) and maybe 3 of them are road legal in the UK. I imported my first one from America and paid not far off £200 for a £90 helmet that didn't really fit that well, which I didn't notice til I passed my test hit 70mph and the thing smooshes my face or feels like it wants to fly off lol.
Thankfully after my recent minor accident I noticed 1 company in the whole of the UK has imported the other 4XL road legal helmet and it seems to be a nice tighter fit, not that I have much choice if I want to ride.

Shark S900 Creed

I was sceptical of Shark, but i tried a few on and they fit very nicely and are of much better general build quality than i thought.

Shoei Raid 2 , had it a few years now and apart from a couple of small stone chips its in really good condition, will probably look at getting a new lid towards the end of the year when I get another bike .

About £170 when I bought one but I got 50 quid off so £120.
Tried on much more expensive helmets but this & other HJC's were the only ones that fit properly, The others made me feel like I had lumps in my head but this lid I can wear all day long.
