The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I really don't think you do need plenty of it for ships at all - ISK that is. You need it for some ships for sure but then if you are flying those sort of ships you have the money anyway or easy access to it.

What I would recommend is scan down wormholes to nullsec and make you money there. I've been playing for years and this is what I currently do and it gives me a good return. Generally I look for:

Highsec to nullsec or the more available
Highsec to C3/C2 then that wormhole to nullsec

Bookmark entries and exits - go through run their sites, mine their gas, ignore their protestations and get your money. You can easily clear 200 million per hour once you are set up to run the combat sites you scan down. Now let's say you are really unlucky and only do a 1/4 of that (ie you'd make more running level 4's in highsec) then if you did that one evening a month you'd have enough frigates for the rest of the month. If you just want to PVP then join a corporation that wants you do that and pays you to do it.

Have not played for a few years, but do corps still exist for mining and ratting? Would come back to give that another go, found mining relaxing.

The corp Xordium and I are in isnt a mining/ratting corp as such but, we live in lowsec and require gas harvesters and drug dealers (smugglers) and we also do PvE exploration sites around our home.

Once every now and then as a group we deploy to nullsec to get loads of gas a drug BPCs and run the more lucrative nullsec DED plexes.

Maybe this isnt what you're after but just throwing it out there: http://whizz.enjin.com/

Jakspyder, what you're doing is about the only thing that could drag me back to Eve. Something a bit different and niche (in a game that's already niche). I haven't played in a year, but I assume coming from a goon rental corp would be automatic rejection?

Tempted to kick up my three accounts, always end up coming back to piracy or some 0.0 fleet action.

Would be interesting to try some of the other features, but hard to dedicate the time corps require from you (every single night).

Not all corps require you to be online every single night! Just ask around when looking to join to see what they're expectations are. You should have no issues finding a fairly casual group that will fit what you want.

True true, but the ones I've really had fun with tended to be on the more demanding side!. It's just finding the right corporation I guess.

Small pirate corp piracy PVP in low-sec was amazing fun a good few years back, then it was 0.0 BoB/LV large scale stuff for in between.

Dude I didn't login for 5 months last year and no one batted an eyelid no ts3 requirement too which is great as I have young kids and need to listen out for them.

We have people in Corp who have mains in Cfc ;)

Yup, we remain neutral diplomatically. We're not interested in taking sides in the null wars and we only refuse members who are affiliated with certain enemies of which we have few. None of them are major null players.

If you're interested fire an ingame eve mail to "Bum Shadow" (don't ask)

Thats me and I'll give you more details on what we do and such and you can decide if you're interested.

OK cheers. I've just bought Dying Light, so going to burn through that co-op with a friend (also an Eve player) and then turn my attentions back to Eve.

Going after groups like (marmite collective, etc.) that is a mugs game (unless you really really know how that game is played) highsec wars and griefing and the likes is still a mess of neutral alts/logi, etc. etc. and they'll know all the tricks with regards to aggro chains and so on.

I'll second what Rroff said regards initiating conflict.

You are using far too many ships to tackle a Level 4 mission. A single Rattlesnake should breeze that mission. There is no reason to find any mission in this game tough (including DED 10/10 and Level 5 let alone any level 4) with 2 x Rattlesnakes and a fleet booster so I can only assume that you have the skills to fly it correctly or your fits and tactics are a little off. The problem resulting from this is you've made yourself a target.

You are also missioning in an area which is known to be frequented by such types. I have been running missions on and off since I started Eve back in 2005 and I've never had anyone come into my grid in highsec. So I think you need to think about where you do your work.

Another thing I would say is do you really want to be running such a mission for tags with the consequences for your faction standings? If you don't care about factions standings then you'd be better of blitzing through level 4 factions missions and upping the actual amount you earn and also reducing the cost of the ships you are using or running Level 5's with the Rattlesnake but if you are struggling with the level 4's then you shouldn't be doing Level 5's in lowsec.

*hides*

I barely had the skills at the time to fly a T1 frig let alone a faction BS :S

(They only killed me due to the server having a funny moment however :( - sat there at 0 on a station spamming dock with no aggression for >2 minutes before they finally broke my passive regen - firing kinetic missiles against my kin biased fit - due to having seen the same issues with the server as I was experiencing they actually contracted the dropped modules back to me heh).

EDIT: Don't use that fit as a basis for anything... I was still very new to the game in terms of actual experience.

These days for Level 4's you can just gank them out and MJD everywhere then you don't really need a tank. I used to passive brick Level 5's with them.

Well spent ages getting my Gallante standings from -7.98 to +0.25.
Several hundred probably thousands of lvl 1 missions and a billion isk buying tags doing data centre missions.
Did the Sisters Arc (only real reason I wanted to fly in gallante space), the Gallante stopped trying to kill me after i got above -5.
Got bored rigid though and got out my trusty pimped navy raven to do some lvl 4 caldari security missions and am now back down to -1.37 , wont take long to be hated again.

Those new burner missions are tough , all the other level 4 missions I have completed without warping out but these are quite tricky.
