The HTC One Hima (M9) Thread

quick question, I have a could have M9's coming over the next few days. Are there any colours to avoid? I know with the M7 there were tooling issues on the silver ones that wasn't apparent on the black devices. Anything like that I should be aware of?

Build quality on the silver/gold seems perfect and I'm very picky. However saying that I've still got the plastic on mine ;)

Think I may get the gunmetal. Not sure about this "gold" at all. Looks a bit tacky tbh.

Well I have the gunmetal grey and my phone seems to be perfect, I haven't hear of any major defects this time around which is certainly a good thing :)

Changed back to my Spigen Thin Fit case as I like the ever so slightly thinner protection on there as it feels slightly better :p

I've been running with Apex Launcher since I bought it but I may go back to full blooded Sense again and see how I get on.

Wheres the photos bruh :o. Also drop a mini review as I really need to make my mind up about a phone, for me and the misses.

Really stuck on this phone, it seems like such a disappointment when I see coverage it on the web and yet my M8 is still the best phone evar. However it is long in the tooth now and it's time for something new. So is it worth replacing or should I just grab an S6?

to be honest , its not worth moving from a m8 to m9, its not big step at all, i myself now have a M8, and looking to get the s6 edge, i know the software runs great on htc, not a hint of lag from day it was released, but i do love how much tech samsung throw in a phone

Yeah it's looking to me that the S6 has just got a better balance of bits. Cooler running SOC, better screen and fingerprint sensor. Not keen on the design though, of the hardware or software, and as a designer myself that's kinda important. Not bowing to the iP6 crowd that I work with though!

I can't believe I've just realised you can change the multitasking grid on the M9 to the Lollipop Card layout instead which I do find to be a lot easier to just swipe away.

Photos will come later.

Feels good in the hand, the separation between the back and middle aluminium pieces means it is easier to grip. It doesn't feel any thicker in the hand though. The power button is too low down I think: they've gone from one extreme to the other. It would make way more sense (see what I did there? :D) if they did the Samsung button placement with the volume buttons on the left, power button on the right. But it's a bit better than the M8 placement I suppose.

Performance is excellent. The OS is smooth and basically lag-free. The skin isn't too heavy, it's reasonably close to stock although you'd know it isn't. It's similar to Sense on the M8 except a little bit more material-design like.

Screen is beautiful, good colours, good contrast. Speakers are great (of course they are :p), so for media consumption it's another winner for HTC.

I haven't had long enough to test the camera out yet so I'll let you know about that later. Same goes for the battery life.

I think I will swap for the gunmetal. The silver on gold just seems really tacky somehow. The silver is nice but the gold is basically copper coloured and just seems out of place. I wish they made a 100% silver version like the M8.

Ok so I have just ordered 2 of these, a galaxy edge, a note 4 and some other handsets to play with. Went for 2x m9's in gunmetal in the end.

I shall take some photos of them and give some thoughts when they arrive.

I may also bring in my m7, m8 and s4 to give some comparisons.

why get two of the same phone?

I am actually ordering for work, I manage all the lines and contracts so with spares etc get to play with all the new kit. For example I have 2x m7 2x m8, an iphone an S4.... You get the picture, we hold at least one spare of every phone my department supports, it's good for me as work cover my bills and buy my handsets.

I just get to pick and choose what I fancy and have had every Mx HTC so this seems like the sensible move. Not to mention I shattered the screen on my m8 last week by dropping it about 40 feet.

I probably wouldn't eat through them at the rate I do if I put cases etc on them but yea I don't because why buy something so beautiful and then ruin it with ugly cases and screen protectors?

They should all be here tomorrow but I won't be, I will be in Northampton so it won't be until Thursday that I will spend some time playing before a little write up in here.

Well my M9 is going back :(

Motion Launch gestures don't work at all. Tried turning them on and off, restarting the phone and as a last resort I did a factory reset, all to no avail.

Think I'll get another and go gunmetal this time although the Z3 is talking to me.

Bad news, I had to send back a silver M7 a couple of times because of the headphone socket. Replaced it with the black model and never had a single issue with it.
