The HTC One Hima (M9) Thread

Just curious...has anyone attempted to go naked full time with phone? I am curious as to how people are finding it since it is infinitely better grip wise than the M8.

I don't use a case on mine (buy a beautiful phone, put an ugly case on it.). It's fine in hand. Easy to grip and hold. No slippages (yet).

It's the paranoia in me really mate :p I mean I've seen some messed up HTC One's over time other people have had! I suppose that's what mobile phone insurance is for.

Really stuck on this phone, it seems like such a disappointment when I see coverage it on the web and yet my M8 is still the best phone evar. However it is long in the tooth now and it's time for something new. So is it worth replacing or should I just grab an S6?

Why don't you just keep the m8? Its a great phone as you say. Does the s6 really do anything that much better?

It seems people upgrade these days to be part of the in crowd with the latest fashion accessory.

Personally I'm still using an s4 and don't think any of the new phones are a big enough jump to be worth the considerable outlay.

Upgrading every year is a mugs game. Wait until there is something actually worth the cost of upgrading.

New toys have arrived, I shall pit the m9 up against the M7, M8, S6, Note 4 and Iphone 6. Anything in particular people would like to know / see?

For those of you with an M9, does the glass cover the entire front, top to bottom or is it like the M8 where it stops at the plastic speaker grills so that there is a ridge so to speak?

This time the glass stops at metal speaker grills, the design of the front although looks the same is very different.

Thanks :)

The reason I ask is because I had an M8 for a brief period and the grills didn't line up with the glass, and I was always scraping my finger whenever I used the notifications shade, so it went back (tried others as well and they were all the same) so wanted to see if the M9 suffered from the same issue?

give me a sec and ill take you some pics...

This might help, the phone is now joined almost like two half's so the front sits much nicer.

Thanks Vince, very good of you to do that :)

It does seem a lot better than before, though I think it may still annoy me? In contrast to the all smooth glass fronted Nexus 6 etc.. Which is a joy to use in this regard :)

possibly, there is without a doubt a change in the smoothness as you slide your finger off of the screen onto the metal, there is also a very minor bump where the metal sits fractions of a mm proud of the screen.

My m8 screen isn't uniform where as the m9 is, perhaps that's because I abused the M8 but with the m8 the screen at top left sits slightly proud fractions of a mm above the metal so you get a drop as you slide from screen to metal. The top right of the phone is opposite and you get a slight raise as you go from screen to the speaker grills.

The battery life on the M8 is really inconsistent than it used to be and I've tried everything (including root, S-OFF, roms etc.) to improve it with no joy. It also randomly fails to recognise the sim card which can be a pain.

I know what you mean about a lack of a jump between modern phones and those from a few years ago, but people like shiny things :D

Haha. Only pulling your leg mate.

Did you consider the Nexus 6?

It's not one that I considered if I am honest. I basically put it out there that we would support any google or apple devices and gave them a choice of what I considered the best handsets. I may have dropped the ball there.

Get in touch with htc they will replace the battery and fix the phone free of charge normally. I have had good experience with their support in the past.
