***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

What's with the stupid flight controls using mouse?

I've turned down the auto centre in aircraft but the helicopter just keeps levelling off when I try to pitch?

Just found a HUGE reddit thread about GTA Online and the issues with the lobbys.

Here.

Hopefully with any luck R* will get onboard and fix it!

It seems so... Random?? It just seemed to be people aimlessly milling about, being chased by cops, or shooting/running each other over.

I did not play online with the Xbox, so I guess I am just struggling with the concept a bit, but it really is not what I was expecting at this point.

I will give it another couple few tries and see how I get on. Annoyed that I cannot use my pedals/wheel to drive, I (stupidly) just assumed as it was a PC game it would be fine. Might have to plug in the xbox controller for first person driving.

Why the hell do you face plant the floor if you get too tired on a bicycle?

There are some utter BS elements to this game so far, but overall I like it! :p

Stop tapping the pedal button and just hold it down instead, or stop peddling altogether and let it free roll for a bit! If you keep tapping sprint when you're on the bike eventually it'll drain your health bar, you need to get fitter. :)

Same here, I was looking forward to online the most but the times I've tried it's just been utter chaos with lag like GTAIV.

From what I gather, you are doing it wrong!

Online seems to be a case of using free roam to reach mission markers and then start them. There are races, hesits, deathmatch etc etc. Free roam is just a hub, of sorts, that allows you to buy stuff and modify your character before you enter a challenge/mission.

Or at least that is how I understand it.

This will be worth us trying tonight Josh.

Me and a friend have been playing together literally all day without issue. It took a few minutes at the start to figure it all out (few = 20~), but after that we've played for about 8 hours without complaint.
So, to solve your issues:
1) In Options, make sure you're in a closed game to friends only. Make sure Host change is set to "Off".
2a) Host a closed Free-Roam. Invite friends. That's all that's needed for free roam.
2b) Host a closed Job. Invite friends.
3) Once all friends have joined, open the lobby up (that is, make sure it isn't closed any more) and turn "Auto-Invite" on and invite people from similar skill levels.
4) Wait 5~ minutes (max, it usually took me about 2 minutes for a lobby to get 10+ players).
NOTE: If you want to make sure that the host doesn't change, never let the game fill up more than 8 slots. If that happens, you risk the game having to change hosts because your options don't align with the game having to use 8+ man maps.
Yes, they could probably do with having slightly better matchmaking and fixing the host changing bug, but generally it's fine. The main issue I have is identifying which Jobs are co-op and which are vs.
The issues are really just with the design of it all. I heavily support a Party system. It's way too buggy and convoluted right now, and you're right that sometimes it just breaks for no reason.

Annoying atm, have to have keyboard/mouse and controller next to each other. Tend to switch between constantly... Mouse for gunfights and controller for flying and sometimes driving. Just can't get use to lock on over the precision of a mouse.

Unless you find friends and you make up missions as you go (steal a plane from the base and fun stuff like that).

Had a blast this morning, when the servers aren't hammered everything is smooth.

I use controller for driving and general "chilling" in game, but typically switch to kb+mouse when on foot and playing properly as its so much easier to shoot.

Will often find me dropping the controller whilst driving and switching back to kb+mouse as its so much easier to shoot accurately whilst driving

EDIT: I should just stick to kb+mouse really but controller is nice to just sit back and relax with

Will try and get on tonight for a bit of crew shenanigans. I'm on call but to hell with it, I can alt+tab out :p

Oh btw - DJRobertG - y u kill me so much last night? :( every time I came near you you ended me! I was trying to make friends :p

I have another question. I downloaded the game and because there is no 'hard copy' I don't feel like I actually own the game.

How do you deal with a system crash and re-intallation or simply wanting to install on a new PC, do you have to download the thing again from somewhere?

I got it working after a new install of os without having to redownload much. Backed up the folder which has the 60gb files. On new os install I used the official installer to install the game. Once installed it starts to download the game. I quit the installer and copied the files from my backup into the new install folder (do NOT overwrite existing files option selected). Then restarted game and it updated about 50mb then it was working fine.

Thanks for the hiest run last night it was a good laugh :D

Feel free to add me on Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/id/tbwmaxi) as it might be easier to setup other matches in the future if you want to join in, the Rockstar Social stuff isn't great about telling you if I have invited someone or not so sorry if you got like 30 invites from me last night :p

Also we are usually on mumble or something if you wan't to join on voice comms or at least listen to the rage of us all failing.

Hey guys, just got the game a few days ago and havent had much time on it yet. I have requested to join the overclockers crew, which TS server does everyone use

IN game name (In every game i play) is KingDiomedes

Last night when I loaded up my game, something must have happened. My mobile screen has really high brightness/contrast. Nothing else seems affected.

Anyone else had this issue?
