TitanX v 295X2 review @HardOCP

Just demonstrating the fps roller coaster a 295x2 would take you on, numerous reviews show the 295x2 getting worse minimums than the a GTX 980, I just don't see the appeal.

Having owned one I agree, it was just frustrating seeing some games only getting basically 290x performance. It's a hell of a lot cheaper yes but I'd still rather pay more for a single card where I know that performance is there for every game.

I can completely understand the Titan X is for a small portion of the market but price is never the main factor for me and quite a lot of others now when when choosing a card. There's so many 970 and 980 owners when the 290 cards are considerably less which shows people don't just choose the cheaper option. This is not just down to marketing either, the benchmarks are there for everyone to see and the 290 cards can match the 970 and sometimes even the 980.

If you haven't tested out the cards yourself, FPS sometimes doesn't show the true results (even frame times for that matter) especially when involving SLI/CFX.

Single cards yes, but multi is a whole different story.

I've run both sli and cf setups (CF 5770's, 6990, SLI 670's, GTX690), there seem to be plenty of people who have had a 295x2 coming forward saying the experience was not a good one.

"There is just something elegant about having this much performance and power efficiency in a small, single-GPU video card package without the fuss of SLI or CrossFire profiles"

Aha riiiiiight !. I am NEVER going single card ever again.

Why do they compare an older dual gpu card against a very new single gpu. Totally pointless. Yes some will say about price and vfm, but that aside. To unfortunately use a vehicle analogy, you cant compare a 300 bhp 4wd rally car against a formula 1 car. 295x2 is great, if you have a driver that works for xfire, but still it lacks vram.

Why must ppl take it as an insult? Of course the X is gonna battle vs the 295x2. It's the only single card AMD has capable of duking it out with the X. Omg the horror?

This, oh but but but but.... we shouldn't make comparisons because [insert any reasoning you can come up with here].

its one flagship GPU against another, there is always one winner and one loser. no point in trying to disqualify it.

Your correct - TX is the winner as it has better minimums and frametimes.

Better max fps is all well and good, but minimums determine how good the game play is :)

"When we look at the TITAN X in comparison to the AMD Radeon R9 295X2, which is much less expensive,
one quality truly becomes clear, and it is important in gaming; consistency.

As you look over the graphs you start to realize that the framerates of AMD Radeon R9 295X2 are erratic and all over the place.

When you look at the actual framerate line TITAN X/GTX 980 are much more efficient and consistent."

TX is the clear all round performance champ, 295X is the clear all round bfb champ, you pays your money...

How much cash is in your pocket determines how good the game play is.:p

Hang on werent we disallowed from comparing 690 to 7970 back in the day? flagship vs flagship :o

Same went for 295 v Titan and everything else before them.
