What did you do to your bike today?

Didn't mean not cleaning them, just thought you might need to give them a wipe over rather than a soapy wash like you'd do cleaning the whole bike. :)

Oh yeah, no soap up there as I don't like all the gaps on top of the engine that the soapy water would run down in to, so I just get some Elbow Grease on a cloth on wipe those areas down.

engines are sealed too? just dont use a pressure washer, near the rad and wheel bearings/calipers and ht leads/spark plugs if you have a naked bike

nice big soft sponge and plenty washing liquid

I just mean when it runs down into the hard to reach bits between engine and tank, doesn't feel right letting soapy water go there. I know it does when it rains, but I don't like it :p

yh I suppose, but once the engine is warm it will burn off any trapped water

EDIT: its up to you really,im just saying you don't have to worry so much, just wash everything as you would normally,ie soap n sponge, thats all I do,and spray some of the linkages with wd40 afterwards

went over wolvo today on the zx10r parked up a bit went to thumb the starter and flat battery, luck happened I was near a hill and bumped it

think the battery is on its way out as the bikes been standing over winter, its good few years old too

same symptoms as the previous battery when it failed

EDIT: oh and dropped on my rear footrest hangers at the blasters, idk whether to repaint them the same colour as the frame or have them polished and clear powdercoated

Probably the only reason it didn't get nicked round here :D

Not sure how to word this for google..

How long is it before an insurance claim doesn't matter / effect prices / don't have to declare it?

Long story short is I had an off (nobody else involved) around 4 years ago on a 125 and bent the foot & hand levers etc so I called insurance to ask for recovery to take it home which I then fixed it all up myself.. They (at the time, unknown to me) marked it down as a non-fault claim.. Didn't know about it until I got a quote for another bike from a different insurer and they accused me of lying about my claims history :p

My car insurers aren't bothered at all and even count the NCB from the bikes I had..
But it affects my (prospective!) bike insurance by about a few hundred ££.

I have already tried to get the claim removed but it's a wild goose chase, original insurers say that it shouldn't make a difference to renewal costs, new insurers mark it as a claim and price goes up.

5 years isn't it?

They ask you when you get a quote if you've had any accidents or claims in the last five years

Its up to you whether to tell them or not

Its up to you whether to tell them or not

Telling them is likely to increase the cost of the policy. But not telling them isn't really worth it, as for all home and motor types of insurance there's a database open to insurers to check claims history. Not all insurers will do this automatically (some will), but if you claim, you can be damn sure they will.

Depending on the type of insurance and the type of claims in the history, they may decline a new claim, or demand you pay the difference in premium in order for the policy to be valid.

Following the policy wording to the letter is what they do, if the wording voids a claim, they will use that and count their lucky stars on having saved a few quid.

I played mountain pass roulette again and had a great time!

1 - I found a great route around a lake
2 - I found a dodgy narrow mountain pass
3 - I came all the way back down the mountain with my engine off. The Street Triple really is a bicycle!

Got rid of it and got a 2002 Triumph Trophy 1200 with full luggage and a decent screen which will be much better suited to my trips down to the grand kids. Sitting in the wind for 2+ hours is no fun at all. Picked the Trophy up in Dartford and riding it back was like being in a different world. I'll easy be able to do once a week down to the kids which ks what its all ablut for me, finally vot something that suits my size and my usage.

**** me 4T5 you change your bikes more often than I do my pants. Hope you enjoy it.
Had it just over 6 months, Got it with 7029 miles up it & handed it over with 9990 miles exactly. :D

that's what you should do with Italian bikes, get rid before they pack up :p:D

Get out of my head !!! :p

Lets be honest folks if the Ape had got sick it would have cost untold to sort it out & you know as well as I do it's not if it's When.
Main reason for sale is it's just to much riding a Naked for 2+ hours having a visit then a 2+ hour ride home, Being 6ft 5 I take the full force of the wind on the Shiver which is great for an hour or so but 2+hours sitting at 60/70s done my head in & I even had to stop.
Rode the Triumph home took about the same time about 2 hours 20 & like I said above it's a different World. It'll be a pleasure doing the run now not a pain.
Only right I should have Triumph anyways. :D
