used cards delivered 'as new' ?

Well from a personal perspective, if it was a crap clocker and or had coil whine, it would go back but if it was a tidy clocker, I would be more than happy to take a used card/CPU/Memory every day of the week.

Im exactly the same, just think of it as binning with no down side, providing they take it back after youve tried it out, i dunno if they can tell. :)

I guess most people run them at stock speeds though so theres no need to test it.

Also I have never had this issue with any other computer supplier in the UK, they never seem to 'mix things up.' Just saying.

Everyone's experiences are different. I received the parts for 8 new PCs at work a couple of years ago from a competitor, and of the 8 identical "brand new" motherboards, 2 boards were outside their anti-static bags inside the box, 1 was missing the I/O shield, 4 were missing at some of their SATA cables, 6 had fingerprints or paste on parts of the board and all 8 of them had parts of the packaging torn where seals had been removed. When we asked about returning them, the first question asked were "Do they actually work? If so, you've got no reason to return them."

By contrast, the only times I've ever received anything that didn't look brand new from OcUK was a couple of my B-grade items, which I expected. Everything else I've ever received has been perfect.

Agreed everyone's experience is different.

There is also a difference in explanation for why these items might be open. In the competing companies it may be because they are sending out returned stock as new, which is obviously not on.

With OCUK there is always a worry they are cherry picking CPUs and GPUs for their own built systems, so there is a strong motive for the boxes being opened. In which case the card you receive is guaranteed not to be a good clocker. I am not saying this is what they do but it doesn't help that they don't deny this practice.

Maybe it's how cartels roll these days ;)

Is it not on though?

If you buy a TV or toaster or dustbin or whatever from Currys or Argos, would you think it not on for them to be selling returns as new?

I actually did buy a bin from Argos which had been previously opened. it was fine. I sometimes return stuff to stores, like clothes etc - I wouldn't expect the store to have to sell those returns as "b-grade".

I think people are being a bit precious, really.

In all honesty I would always return an item that I felt had previously been returned that I had paid brand new money for. There are several reasons for this, but mainly because if I buy a brand new item I want it to be factory sealed, in original packaging just the way the manufacturer wanted me to open it. When you consider the competition these days, for the same price you could get a brand new one from somewhere else.

Having said that when I do receive my brand new GPU from OCUK and it is factory sealed and I realise it is a rubbish clocker, I don't abuse the system by returning it in the hope that I will get a better clocker next time. There must be people out there that do exactly that!

Horses for courses I guess.

This is why I've tended to avoid sales when the item is out of stock and on pre-order, the manufacturer could easily be sending out batches of refurbished products repackaged to look like new etc.

I have bought a few GPU's from OCUK and have never had this issue thankfully, I must admit I would not be to impressed if I did.

I did order a refurbished Corsair H100 form OCUK once though and it literally looked brand new, if it did not have a refurbished sticker on the box it would have been impossible to tell as the cooler and box were immaculate.
