***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Ok, anyone able to tell me if this is normal: see the textures - up to around 10-15ft in front of the player, they're decent, but after that, they're a fuzzy mess. Same when driving - looking down the road it looks terrible quite frankly:

Could it be that I'm over the vram buffer (even though it plays perfectly fine, uses around 1450mb)? Just gonna try on normal textures and see if it changes.

Just tried on normal textures, sits around 1200mb and it's the same, only the foreground textures aren't quite as sharp. Thought it might have been because the game is installed on a NAS but I have a gigabit connection directly to the NAS so it won't be that.

I'm going to wait 3 months for patches, as this game seems broken to me.

Wish I had not bought it near release. I'm blaming people saying they can run it 60 fps locked on a 970. I don't think that's true at the moment. There is also a definite stutter problem.

No way am I ruining a great game/experience.

People didn't make you purchase it though, you made that decision.

I'm on a 780 and can hold 60fps.

made a real bad buy on the stock exchange in SP :(
i invested ~£400k of Franklins cash in Lifeinvader, next mission i took involved a character swap to Michael,
he then proceeded to get Franklin to bomb the owner of Lifeinvader causing shares to drop ~50% then it autosaved so i couldnt go back :(

lol I invested about 20mins ago after doing that mission, was going to do what you did but then realised I had no idea what was going to happen and didn't want to look at guides. I'm loving the story missions so far :)

Wait till you meet the ALIENS :p

I was going to mention this, I can drive at high speed through red lights, down the wrong side of the road & cut corners across pavements & not once do I get chased by police

GTA has always been like this. I remember Driver: Parallel Lines and Mafia II implementing more realistic police models, but at the end of the day it was just more frustrating than anything else.

I'm getting solid 60 on my 970 @ 1080p with a slight clock @ 1350/1100

I have turned post fx to high (mainly as I didnt like the dof effects)
shadow detail to high
grass to high
all the advanced options off as like TB said you need a titan x for them lol
MSAA is on 2x
msaa reflections off

Everything else is very high. Game looks superb and stays at 60 with no slowdowns at all. I do get crashes quite a bit though, which i have been lead to believe is due to a memory leak . Wish they would hurry up and fix that is it is becoming a pain.

I think if you're wanting everything very hig with msaa cranked right up you will be waiting forever. There inst enough vram on this card to go much higher. Which is to be expected really when you consider how much the next gen consoles have.

You waiting is of course your choice. The game is far from broken and given the size and scale of modern games, BUGS ARE BOUND TO HAPPEN. And you can blame other people for making your own uninformed decision. I definitely had problems with stutter and fluctuating FPS before. I even get angry at friends who claim to have superior performance, when I know for certain it is not true. However, I take it upon myself to find ways to remedy the problem in which case I have found my solutions to maintain a steady 60 fps.

For those wanting to move the game to SSD as I have when installed on another drive in Steam, simply run the following in cmd

Obviously modify it for you (my default steam and games dir is D, SSD C)

mklink /J "D:\Games\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto V" "C:\Games\Grand Theft Auto V"

Read the nvidia guide it tells you textures are blury like there's no AF applied if ERM I think shaders or post fx is too low. Bump shaders to high should fix it. Or whatever the guide said caused it.
