What did you do to your bike today?

There are another 6 slalom sections in the local area.

It's like a child dropped their spaghetti on the plans for the road :D

My zx12 behaves it's self with out one but does have a little weaver from side to side at 160+ need to check swing arm bearing.

But if you want serious tank slap try a TL1000s with out a damper it will kill you :D

Yes I have heard they are animals :D still wouldn't mind a TLR in the garage.

Love that, only a problem at 160 :D
I remember last year when I rode the bike for the first time at brands since the accident and rebuilding her, first session was horrible, steering felt horrible, thought it was trying to kill me all the time.... turns out I had the damper set to completely loose for ease of moving about the garage, totally forgot to dial it in before the day, all beautiful again after that :D

Dabbled in tyre changing today for the first time.

Like that what have you got on the end of the bar? would like to make one myself, I have the DIY bead breaker and balancer but its a faff using tyre levers on a 190 tyre.

got the stuck bolt out so I can get the seat off and went for a small ride on the 600,

chain is as smooth as a gravy sandwich :D:p

Tyre levers are a nightmare if you want to keep you're rim scratch free, even when using rim protectors they can get scuffed up!
plus they are a complete ball ache to use on larger sports tyres.

My tyre bar is a rough copy of one of these,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Ty...924?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item487b2d9bf4

They have hard nylon ends which protect the rim from scratching and they do a really good job!

You can buy a kit here but you'd have to retro fit it to something, ok it you're handy at welding, or in my case handy with wood :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/manual-ty...948?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27fd6c0364

You can buy blocks of nylon for a fraction of the price and to be honest I could have easily made the parts myself but I wanted a good pattern to go to. When my current ones ware out I'll have a go at making them myself.

As for the bead braker its just a cheap one from e-bay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mechanics...718?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20e57ecc16

but I've replaced the center rod with a bit of M18 stainless threaded rod which is much more sturdy when you're levering off of it.

The rest of just made up of bits of wood and nuts and bolts.

It works surprisingly well, on a good run I can have a tyre off and on in 10 mins and I'm not swearing at every thing like I would be if I were using tyre levers!

here's a video of how it works.

I used that Coloured T-Cut as I had the right colour laying around, Used it on cars before but not been that impressed but it works great on Gus.

Also fitted a Puig screen that came in the post whilst I was out back, It just lifts the wind of the top of my lid. Quite windy out today but it just don't matter as I'm in my little clean air bubble. :p

Looking good Monkey. Like the look without pillion foot pegs. Might see what that looks like when I get my speed :D

A bit of bike kit Christmas today. Got my Abba stand, Kriega pack, crash bungs and new cloths! Almax should arrive soon.

And no actual bike yet, but I did get my number plate a couple of days ago so I'm hoping any day now :p

I have similar mirrors on my Hornet and almost gave up with the bar ends as well, they're a right pain to put on with those ones (they look like the ones off eBay for about £30 I think it was)
Maybe look into investing in the official Triumph bar end mirrors if you can? They would come with bar ends & be nice quality etc.

Edit: looks like your left hand one might have a bar end, or am I seeing something else?

No idea. I bought the bike with the bar end mirrors on it without end-caps. I assumed bar end caps wouldn't fit because of the mirrors and the reduction in diameter. Sounds like I should look into that.

You should definitely look into it, they're supposed to go on bar end extensions not the bars themselves.

If you buy the mirrors from Triumph (as I did) separately they come with the bar end you need.

Compared to the VFR it's bigger, heavier, slower, The VFR is a Sports Tourer where as the Trophy is an out & out Tourer.
The VFR is really comfortable the Trophy is unbelievably comfy.
VFR goes real well when you give it some & can be ridden hard where as the Trophy you just sit on & ride, No need to change gear most of the time you just roll on the power through the grip.
I could get behind the VFRs' screen if I laid on the tank where as on the Trophy I sit in a calm spot behind my screen, Even on the Trophy I have extended my screen by fitting a small Puig screen to the top of the standard screen. Being 6ft 5 the wind just caught the top of my lid so I got the Puig just to lift it over my lid without the need for me to crouch.
VFR I could ride for a good couple of hours but would feel it after where as on the Trophy I did over 3 hours on it & could have turned around & done it again.
Bare in mind the majority of my problems are down to my freakish height & anybody 6ft or under wouldn't have the same issues.

As for comparing a VFR to a Blackbird I'd say that's a much better comparison as I'd say the Blackbird is like a VFR on Steroids. The ultimate Sports Tourer really now I come to think about it.
It's horses for courses I s'pose & it just feels like the Trophy was built for me, Even my knees rest lovely on the inside round parts of the fairing & my knees lock up into the tank perfect, Arms are slightly bent & with the Puig screen I am completely out of the Wind.

Here's the little Puig screen/Deflector I fitted yesterday.

Doesn't look that odd irl but it does it's job which is what it's all about for me.
