I'm putting out such epic torques with my right quads that I'm pulling the brake hood up and twisting the bars round. Better tighten that lot up and figure out a way to start a bit more gently...

You're just too pro for normal bikes ;)

You up for any midweek rides next week?

I'll hopefully be out Tuesday and/or Thursday. Could do a flat run to Lymm or head out through Billinge and do Crank Lane, which is an evil cat 4. Both about 30 miles. Could do something shorter if you'd rather.

I got out for an early 17 miles on my single speed this morning, and got back just as the rain started. As I was setting off I noticed by bars were slightly crooked, but didn't bother stopping to fix them. I figured out how it had happened at some lights fairly early on the ride. When I'm pushing off from the lights, I'm putting out such epic torques with my right quads that I'm pulling the brake hood up and twisting the bars round. exactly the same problem here! twisted my hoods, need to rip the tape off, tighten it up like heck knows what and re-tape it! grr :o

No that works fine for me. Whatever route you prefer is cool, be that flat or hilly. It'll do me good. I'll just remember to fuel up beforehand this time. I can feel my endurance coming back already. Just need to work on my power.

So what will happen if I put some water repellent on my Virb lens? Any side effects apart from gaining the ability to see videos clearly when it is slightly moist?

Spent far too long this morning messing around with my front derailleur until I worked out what exactly I'd been doing wrong. After that I spent another hour going through every bolt and loosening/re-tightening it to proper tension. Hopefully the bike is now super properly set up after it's first ~500 mile service.

Feeling a bit tired from last night and lacking in much motivation to get out today. Going to hit the weights and then maybe do a turbo session... though if the weather continues improving I might pop out to do Brickworks or Wizard and Artists or something.

Thats my best weekly total so far , 125 miles.

Chuffed to bits , did 5 rides of varying length and my legs are sore but not too bad really. Couple of days at work then do it all again hopefully.

A lady I used to work with has posted up a pic on facebook of a new two grand de rosa with full Campagnolo - it's beautiful! Her husband bought a cast iron clunker on eBay for £10 so as to get £250 trade in at evans :p

Another 100km for me today. Three of us out although one guy was suffering a bit on the climbs. He did well to hang on but I suppose it helped to be towed round. Still have a few little niggles but feeling quite strong. 18mph and prob would have been more if Neil had been on it.

Nice one. I went for a walk round Earlham park today and my legs were telling me that doing more mileage in a week than I usually do in a month comes with some consequences :p Tempted to stick in a 20 miler tomorrow to round up to 150 miles for the week!

You've had a good week too , nice one. The mileage will help in the long run as we build up our cycling legs.

Stay away from coming anywhere near Easton today as the Game and Country fair is on at the Showground and the traffic gets snarled up as usual. I'm working today so a well earned day off the bike for me , woke up pretty hungry this morning though and I thought i'd eaten loads yesterday too

Thought I would give you people an Update

Been to see the Chiropractor twice now, and my back feels so much better

so I should be back on the bike soon !

Off to do a relaxed metric with a few friends - thank god the weather for today is as nice (so far) as was expected. Yesterday was pretty rubbish.

My mini-sportive went well, I knew there was a big/long climb coming so really paced myself out the first 15 or so miles, had a blast of rain (weather was threatening it all day) so I stopped twice before it - once to put on packable, once to remove (sun after the rain = hot!). There were supposidly around 150 riders out, it didn't seem that many to me? Then again I set off soon after the start with around 40-50 riders milling around. I was Billy no mates so chatted to a few and rode with around 3-4 different groups though the whole ride. The run out was with a group of around 12, most of them a female cycling club (I knew about as they were from near where I used to live and work) and a couple of others. Talk about chat! Lots of laughing about me having 2 wardrobe stops (and being male) and them (being mostly female) not having any but it was all good fun and made the first 12-15 miles fly by!

I was slightly paranoid about the big climb coming (turns out not really that big!) So fueled and drank loads while checking Garmin elevation profile so I could pace myself from the start (around 2 miles of climbing). Soon after we started up it I was 'dropped' (with another guy doing similar speed) and we joined 3 others also taking it easy up the climb. Towards the top one of them was struggling (a young teenage girl out with her father) so we really eased back, I must've climbed standing for 5/10 mins in my lowest gear. Finding that loads better saving my knees than just grinding it out seated.

At the top of the climb I had to stop (toilet!) And realised I'd pretty much finished my first drink (took 2). But with the sun out, most of the climbing done and a slow ride I expected to be okay. Took my arm warmers off too and swapped some food around (had a top tube bag with gels, bits & flapjacks in. A few short descents and turns (where I passed the guys i'd climbed with) later I realised we were past the midway point.

Several turn negotiations and road changes I joined and left a few solo riders checkin most were happy (realised as i'd caught them after the climb they were probably better climbers than me and not too fast on the flat). Strange feeling as I'd been passed by quite a few groups on the run out, consider myself a novice and poor climber, to then catch people up feels strange!? I was one of the earlier group leaving the start to then catch people up who seemed to be struggling must've meant they left before me and utterly hammered up the climb!? Passed an older couple riding a peugeot tandem older than me!

Stopped just after a junction for a lady who'd dropped her chain (saw more people with dropped chains than punctures!) and before long there were around 8-10 of us (mostly solo & pairs) semi riding together. Some of them were a local triathlon club and as the group splintered I found myself with 2 of them and another guy. I expected the tri guy & girl to be dead serious but they were brilliant fun and some of the most friendly I rode with! Had a funny point where the lady riding joked she would run up the next hill, guy laughing said he wouldn't stop and wait... Hill comes and of she hops... Road surface is horrible yer the guy rides away, I slow up and realise although she's running up it pushing her bike (wearing cleats!) She's pulling away from me! As it leveled out we had a laugh about which would use the least energy (we were around 25-30 miles in at this point).

The tri guys dropped back to wait for a friend who was behind them somewhere and I rode a little with another guy, he was faster than me but heavier (and i'm not small!) so I caught him on most of the slopes, took turns but he dropped back after one of them and told me to carry on. Rode most of the 10 or so miles back to Hereford solo, passing 10-15 other riders solo and in 2's/3's. A big climb back into the city limits (towards a pub called 'The ****') about finished me, I knew it was there but i'd never ridden it before. Was easy riding back through the city then as there's lots of lights and traffic, my legs felt okay (bit wobbly) but my knees were shot by that last 5%/6% climb. I took a 'shortcut' to avoid lots of stationary traffic - I misread my garmin and turned too early! It worked well though!

Back to the shop for hot drinks and as many cakes as I could eat (2! Lol), wish I had some cash on me as they were selling off surplus stock (£10 for a jersey is always good!). I'll have to remember that for next time!

A slightly changed route to the advertised (due to road conditions) so around 38.5 miles (with around 3-4 there and back from home). By far my longest ride with the most climbing i've done in a single ride. I'm getting more and more confident on my abilities so think I can push my distance up to 50/60 miles when I have a riding opportunity. Really chuffed with my climbing and how I'm more able to pace myself now, at times stood climbing easily at 50/60 rpm I felt I could maintain it for much longer. I know I can do 30 miles (with a group) at 16/17 mph so I want to work towards 35-40 miles at 15-16mph solo.

Be less grudas?

B) eBay /aliexpress sellers who do stainless steel Allen key bolts that don't rust!

Why ebay/Ali? I got a set of these last week and they're great quality, not 100% how stainless but they're listed as it: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-hex-wrench-set/

The missus is riding her first TT of the year today, Sarah Storey is her minute woman. Good luck with that. :p

Haha unlucky draw, at least she'll get to meet her? Good inspiration to watch a pro like her ride :)

Well done! Great going, i'm still to break the 100 mile barrier lol

WINNING! Unlucky Evans' lol ;)

^Wife came 3rd in the handicap with a time of 27:46. Conditions were absolutely crap, I was a minute down on my best despite being as fit or fitter as when I set my PB, so a great effort for only her second 10. :D Elite women did long 22s which again is about a minute down on the fastest ladies times I've seen on J2/1.
