Have I just lost my dream job?

will have a box fitted in the van. something like insure the box. the fit a box in your car that monitors everything and if your a bad driver your premium goes up (i think) i know they give my wifes dad more annual miles for being a good driver. not sure why he needs one of them boxes tho. hes knocking on a bit and driven for years.

Don't break the limit and then you've nothing to worry about. No sympathy for impatient fools.

 Give over.

The OP saw a speed sign saying 60, he accelerated towards 60 before crossing the sign and got done by a strategically placed camera van. He's not in here asking for sympathy and he's not an impatient fool, he just made a simple mistake and is worried about the consequence. Clearly you're somebody that's perfect and enjoys berating people on the Internet to make yourself feel good or something.....

Are you sure it was aiming for people leaving the village and not those coming into it? If it was a long straight before the speed drops coming into the village then they might be there catching people going >60. Seems weird that they'd try and catch people leaving a limited zone so close to a speed limit change.

I reckon you'll be fine (not fined :D)

Unfortunately no it wasn't, village ended a good quarter of a mile behind where I got caught after a couple of turns through a wooded area, the camera van was there to catch people thinking the 30 had finished. I am hoping I don't get banned as knowing my luck I will.

This.

It really annoys me how they strategically place the vans - always in a blind spot where there is a speed increase. It's just a money making scheme to line the coffers. At least I know pretty much every spot in the local area to avoid these traps *touch wood*

You won't get banned. 3 points and a £60 fine.

And it's highly unlikely it will affect your job. I had to have a full driving licence to get the job I have now, it had 3 points on it when I applied and they didn't bat an eyelid.

There was a time in Oxfordshire when the police stopped funding the speed cameras and the local authority didn't take up funding them for a year. There's a very strategically placed speed camera (set at 50), just over the brow of a hill after the end of a very short section of dual carriageway.

I knew it was off, but tested it strategically over a number of days. Until I went past it at over 80.

But remember kids, speeding kills kittens.

.

I got 3 points and £100 fine from a camera like this. Really nice winding 60mph road that goes downhill into a 30 and there was a speed camera van at the bottom...... Letter said 34mph in a 30

Sky monitor the installers on how they drive to peoples premises. :s

One of them told me everything they do is monitored. Even to how hard they brake and accelerate to how long it takes to arrive. As he explained in a sigh shaking his head moment. "I know its unreal"

Happens in a lot of industries.

Shock horror that a company monitor their property to check an employee isn't BREAKING THE LAW.

Edit: how it's done is usually a small service attached to the cars electronics, connected to a cellular module that calls home with the details. Those details are then plotted on software on a computer. It'll show the speed, location and other bits and prices in near real time. Useful for health and safety and to find vehicles if they are stolen/have an accident. It's standard in things like the oil industry when cars may be driving in remote areas like the North african desert as well as making sure people obey the laws of the road (or speed limits set by the company).

Remember a virgin engineer telling me much the same thing last year, everything connected via cellular. Just about the only thing that wasn't monitored, was the time he took to knock the coffee back on his way out the door.

Remember seeing a car last year with a neat sign in the back window. Something along the lines of 'this car is restricted to 50mph' or something of the like 'please don't be offended, feel free to overtake'

Tbh im half tempted to do something like that, 99.9% I drive on or under the limit, just about every tool behind me to and from work each day expects me to joining them in the race on in the Z4.

Never used to happen in the rusty old corsa

Read the thread. He was frustrated because he was stuck behind someone driving slower than he would like. He managed the first 40 miles without speeding, and then resulted into speeding and maybe getting caught because he was impatient to wait until after the sign. It's as simple as that.

@OP; I suggest you wait it out and if you do indeed get a fine and points then you will need to declare it to your Employer and see what they say/do.

My uncle works for Tesco and that's pretty much the same. They have good driver of the month awards for which he won one week, but the very next week he knocked a wing mirror off in a narrow Cornish lane! Win some, lose some, I suppose! :)

You must be a real hoot!

I got stung by a van that was parked between trees so was hard to see. Limit went from 60 to 40 so I let the car naturally slow down.

Camera got me at 46.

Got offered the course and a couple of others had been done by the same camera. Best part being the guy who was teaching the course was my driving instructor!

Well things are going from worse to ****ing bad.

No speeding ticket yet but I scored positive for opiates in my system on the drugs test, which is a major surprise to me as I have taken a illegal drug since I was spiked in 2009. Now my sample is being sent to a lab?:(

I am completely flummoxed how a opiate even got into my system.

All I have eaten for the past month is sandwiches, fruit and a mixture of chicken and potatoes or cheese and jacket potato due to being on a diet. And the odd cough strepsil for a sore throat caused by lime burns.

Has anyone else had something similar?

if I didn't have bad luck I'd have none at all.
