What did you do to your bike today?

My insurance policy is up for renewal so got some quotes from the supermarket and called up my insurer, RCIB.

I got £385 on moneysupermarket and MCN compare from RCIB who were cheapest yet again. Gave the renewal number a call they text me this morning... £650.

+ Hang on Dave, it's £385 online from you guys
- Give me 5 min
- Right, I've spoke to the underwriter and we can do it for £550
+ Dave, do you understand that 550 is larger than 385?
- Yea but that's a comparison quote so even if you buy that from us you'll get a call from us and then it will go up to £600.
+ What!?
- Yea, that's what insurance companies do.

At this point I was furious, but all insurance companies are *********, so I left it there and thanked Dave for his time.

Goodbye RCIB!

fitted my footrests/hangers back on my bike

They look great, good job! Did you get a before pic? I couldn't find it in your forum posts.

I've been considering grabbing a pair from the wreckers for my ER6 as the previous owner must have worn steel boots, they're so badly worn. But you've changed my mind.

i meant to take some before pics and forgot:rolleyes:

but they were corroded pretty bad,the paint had flaked off, think it was from when i came off it a good ten years ago,the corrosion set it

i would get them blasted and paint them yourself,i got my paint from spraywell, also used jawel paints

the colour match was spot on,its like a very faint goldish/silver,he used a hand held scanner thing to get the colour

EDIT: you can also get em powdercoated cheaper,if they are a standard colour like red or black ect

Got my new pads, went with some ebc hh pads. Gave the calipers a good clean few days ago and found a pain in the bum to get the Pistons back in the calipers, so bought a tool to get them back in with ease :)

Brakes feel a lot better before fittin these new pads, so should be even better with the new pads.

Tried to clean up the headers as they are mucked up and rusted after years of crud. Wire wool and autosol worked, but took me an hour to do a patch. After some searching, wonder wheels works wonders after a few coats, so got some of that and will give it a go once I take the belly pan off.

i use a cheap g clamp to push pistons back in,just use an old rag inbetween it so not to mark the outside paint on your caliper

yh its 2004, 2 owners 18k miles,18,700 miles sorry

had it's MOT, passed with no issues which is great, then went on my first ride after passing with a friend and his SRAD.

Incredible fun!

You bugger. You live there, with access to those roads. :(

:D

Figured out my pressures  Tyres must have been still warm when I did the pressures before, stone cold after 2 of hours of cooling down, front was at 30.5psi  Rear was at 33. oops!

Now up to 33 front and 37 rear stone cold, took it for a quick spin and it's much better. Once warmed up a little they'll be perfect. Surprising how much a slowish commute warms up the tyres.
