Neighbour parking obstruction help :( (Large pics sorry)

BMW driver is probably posting a thread somewhere saying he is struggling to get in and out of his car cos someone keeps parking right up alongside him.

I know that road well and it's not as busy as the Op is making out. The op just needs a bit of confidence I think.

This is in South Shields right?

If it's the road I am thinking of then I know that road well, it's not actually all that busy, it's a common bus run and I understand people do probably drive faster than the limit, but I think you are over reacting.

You have posed your car in positions up against the other guys. I don't understand why you don't just leave space.

Try reversing onto your drive in future.

It does look like South Shields yeah, and agreed that road isn't that busy lol. Op learn to drive/park

OP, you must have a mental breakdown every time you have to park in a public car park!

Just imagine having cars that close to you... *ON BOTH SIDES!!!!!!!*

*Insert dramatic music here*

This is nothing like the crap parked cars we have to endure in london :D

OP you have lots of space there. You are not utilising the whole space that you have when reversing out. Try speaking to your neighbour and ask him to park forward a bit if it's blocking your line of vision.

Even though you say the road is busy, good signalling etc would allow you to reverse in safely.

his parking is fine, your driving is crap.

THis

Is it just me... or is it not illegal to reverse out onto a semi-major road like that?

OP should be reversing onto his drive and driving out onto the road forwards...

Simple fix that resolves the reverse turning issue :S

and this.

OP, you are making this out to be an issue when actually it is just your poor driving standards causing the issue.

Regardless of his parking, you shouldn't need to swing over the path just to be able to drive off of your driveway.

With the sleepless nights, the worry, contacting the council, the safety issues of reversing on to a main road, the time you have spent taking these pictures your taking a extremely small issue and turning it in to bigger problems.

Life is not all a bed or roses but controlling your frustration and learning how to chill will make the biggest difference in this and other situations to come.

how do you go to the shops or park anywhere if this is a problem?

even if his car wasn't there and you wanted to use that area you are then driving on a footpath

It's causing me problems with reversing out/turning and getting passengers out safely.
I also live on a very busy road where people ignore the speed limits.

You should not be reversing onto that road.

The only *issue* here is that they are parking on a public footpath.

Assuming its council land surely he can not just park on any random patch of grass just because his car can get over the curb?

OP hasn't replied yet - I don't think this thread has gone how he thought it would!

I fail to see what the BMW is doing wrong here. From both your first and third photos, both pavements are clear and it is lined up straight. It is only blocking someone who might want to get their shoes muddy on the grass.

The Seat is right over on the BMW side of the concrete, so far over that if you were to drive forwards onto your block paved drive you are going to lose the passenger side of your bodywork on the gate.

@op: If you want sympathy from motors, don't park your car like a mum on the school run.

If you are concerned about the speed traffic goes along your road, get your neighbours together and ask the local council to put chicanes in to augment the speed bumps. That road looks very similar to a rat-run near where I live and the chicanes are very effective at stopping people driving like idiots down it.

the bmw is blocking the turning circle for the op?!
surely (as per every car park ever) you don't swing the front end over an adjacent space/footpath etc anyway?
Reversing into this space makes everything easier

I don't know if its the same all through the uk but the car will make a mess of the grass and it seems that there are no other cars parked on the grass so I assume its not allowed.

I think the real issue bugging you is that your neighbour is chancing his luck parking there and so far is getting away with it. If it's getting right on your thrupney bits though, then have a word with the council and they should stop him parking there.
