Given the old bike a good service today. Stripped it right down, cleaned, new tyres & tubes, new brakes. Just managed to resist fitting the new prolight wheels I bought a while ago, saving them for the new bike.
 
No chance of a bank holiday ride for me tomorrow, so I've just been out and done 50 miles. There's some hills I've only done once before about 20 miles away, so I went and did those and then had to limp back. Absolutely mullered now. Low average speed, but decent elevation. Swings and roundabouts.

You do need a decent torque wrench for Vectors though. Tighten them outside of 34-40nm and you'll get dodgy readings.

Aye I wont be wanting to leave Keos any time soon, and I've a good torque wrench.

As to replacing pedals every two years, I've not really had that issue. Tho one concern is the quality of the pedals, given I'd be giving up my Keo Carbons which I have become quite attached too.

I suppose there is a danger that they have settled on a 2 year life cycle, and if you dont buy the upgrade kit within a certain time you're stuck, but I just can't see it happening myself, plus with there are enough of these internet warehouses to be able to buy before getting caught out I think. At €670 it's an absolute steal, given that the RRP is something like £779.

Good shout, didn't think of that. It's out of warranty, but looks like I can pay for a refurb which should be a fair bit cheaper than buying a new one :)

There was condensation in front of the screen this morning so I opened it up to try and dry it out - as I opened the casing some water actually poured out of the unit. No wonder it gave up :o
 
Maxeh & I did the Isle Of Wight Randonnee yesterday :) My first 'event'. Great day, we were a little unsure about the weather as it was raining until we started at 10AM and other than a little spray/mist, plenty of fog and lots of wind it held out and the sun even came out at the end :cool:

Only one puncture just before the 4th checkpoint due to some god awful gravel/trail track. One wrong turn :p And I definitely 'bonked' come around mile 60, was so gross, so will eat more substantially further in to a long ride next time, we had a 20 minute wait for the small river crossing ferry which didn't help matters.

Some great views on Military Road (motherofgod the amount of snot coming out of my face on that climb from the wind :eek:) and everyone going at their own pace too was nice. Not a bad pace all things considered, definitely a much easier ride than I would usually do in terms of speed at the weekend 15/16mph.

Gave the SJ4000 a quick test around my area - happy with the quality, this was converted into MP4 from MOV to try out the Garmin Virb Edit software and then re-exported to another MP4 from iMovie with title added. So a decent amount of compression - still happy enough for the price!

 
Got a 50miler in today, first 50 miler in a couple of years, not a great average speed of 16.4mph but i'll take it when the blustery headwind i had for most of the way home.
 
Set the bike up as a TT last night, mapped a 3x7km out and back route between two roundabouts on a nearby main road.

Blissful weather and I'm up and out the door at 6.30.

Flippin' first car boot sale of the year and the queue is backed up 500m by the time I roll along at 6.45.

Mission aborted. Back to bed.

No doubt her indoors was doubly happy at being woken up as you left and then again as you returned :D

I sleep on the sofa bed downstairs if I'm going to be setting an alarm for 7 or earlier at the weekend. Even then I can usually hear the kids upstairs as I'm eating my breakfast.
 
Could clicking noises come from a headset? I'm getting some odd clicky noises on my bike and I think they're coming from the front end, but I'm not sure.
 
Could do if it's got a bit of movement. Slacken the stem bolts off and do it all up again. It might just be the handlebars in the stem.

Could also be the seat post if a bit of grit has managed to work its way in there.
 
Cheers, I'll take a look at that.

I thought my BB was on the way out as well, until I looked down and noticed it was the front derailleur cable pinging against the crankarm every time it went round. D'oh!
