Overprovisioning is this worth doing? I have a Samsung 850 EVO and I used the recommended level in Samsung Magic of 10% so I lost 48GB to it. This seems like a lot is it really that helpful? will it prolong the life of the SSD?

I have 2 of the drives and have it enabled on both of them.

what size SSD do you have? I have the 250GB version and lost 23.29GB to this, sounds like you have the 500GB version?

its meant to optimise performance and lifespan of the SSD

I've never seen a need to allocate more than about 3% to it - there is some very minor performance difference can't comment on the long term aspect of it but supposedly makes it easier for the controller to spread wear out over the drive.

i have the 850 pro 256gb and i have left lt at standard settings which is 10% overprovisioning. I have found this to be a good drive and fast response. i activated rapid mode but benchmarks are rather unusual.

would post screenshot but having problems getting it to show.

i didn't bother with Rapid mode on my SSD as it didn't make any difference to normal use for gaming or internet and just uses system resources.
