Back from the holiday to the Isle of Wight, managed to get the tire fixed and found a beautiful day to do the clockwise island circuit https://www.strava.com/activities/301127305

Had a layover in the needles for a few hours where my wife met me with the kids before heading back. Was so tired when I reached the needles I almost didnt cycle back but so glad I did and was surprised what a little rest and food can do so quickly.

Now looking for a near by sportive to do it again! Once I get the rear fixed again as 2 more spokes went at some point in the last 15-20 miles, shall contact wiggle in case this is a known issue with the Mavic CXP22 wheels that came with the Felt, 5 within the first 600-700 miles, and 2 more in under 100 miles of the last fix feels excessive to me.

Quiet here today eh!

Went out early this morning on a fasted ride, as I'm about 2.5kg overweight atm after some down time due to illness.

Aimed for 2 hours, and didn't really know where to head, so just randomly took turns as and when I got to the turns, on the way back, rain started to come, although not majorly hard, just seemed it with the driving wind. Then got a bloody puncture with a stone stuck in my tyre. So changed that and continued home, and then got a bloody slow one! So pumped up and it was nigh on dead when I got home.

43miles, bit more than planned, but good ride. will be out with the club tomorrow which will no doubt be hard. Chucked a couple of photos on strava, one of a church I go past so many times but hardly notice, but it's so picturesque. Nice to notice new things on the same roads.

Came home, and then went out and picked up a nice little package from the post office.

Set of Oakley Radarlocks. Then came back and fitted some 700x28 Vittoria Zaffiro Pro to my CX, as I'll be using this mainly as my commuting bike over the next few months, and will swap out the tyres as and when I go to do some trail riding. Tight fit, but got them on. Although my inner tubes are 700x35/43, so presume these are ok?

They've been used for about 2000 miles or thereabouts and they're going strong. I probably ought to give them a service sometime soon! The rims are great, nice and wide, so with 25mm tyres on them they're very smooth rolling.

I'm also considering the Pacenti SL23 rim, seems to get plenty of recommendations. I'm concerned about the wear on the annodise finish the archetypes has, this is apparently not aa bad on the grey finish as it is on the black.

Oakleys look decent where did you them from?

Rest day + tidy up the utter bombshell that is my house or get out whilst the weather looks okay. Kind of leaning towards more rest as despite not doing that much in the last couple of days next week could involve a fair few miles and better weather. Hmm...

I'm going to have to be good this week as I've got my 85 miler (sponsor me!) next week and I've not done anything close to that in ages.

Hilly club ride today going ground all the local hills. Pbd ALL of them so I was well chuffed!

Not so chuffed with my tyres though. Second blowout in a month on my gp4000s. I'm beginning to agree with Asprilla in that they are made of cheese. Another large cut in the tyre. Great to ride but have the durability of a British car from the 60s. Getting rid of them now which is a shame as they are great to ride.

I'm hoping to get out for a quick ride this evening, but it is pretty windy.

I've had my bike in bits this afternoon to give it a good clean and check the bottom bracket. It's the first time I've taken a HTII bottom bracket out - so far I've only done square taper. It seems a very elegant design. It's all in good nick and turning smoothly so I just cleaned some of the gunk out and regressed it and put it back together. My daughter came out wanting to help towards the end of the process so I had her spraying gt85 on the frame and giving things a wipe down to finish off.

Just had a reply from wiggle about the snapping spokes and they've offered to send out a set of Pro Lite Garda's

Quite surprised they're swapping them out like that, certainly impressed with their customer service responding on a weekend as well.

Annoying cracking sound when moving my handlebars to the 90 degrees to the left/right and sometimes just randomly. I've tried re-tensioning and re-greasing everything but no difference. Going to check out the cable ends shortly and then a proper disassemble and clean... and then give up and buy a new headset I suspect. Gah :/
