Bathroom refurb - order of events?

nightmare! is that a wedi shower base and duravit fittings?

WEDI Shower base and walls (in shower) WEDI floor insulation too.

Kholer Wall unit (managed to get it cheap as it was ex display and left handed. So we swapped it around and had a new top made), and silly taps by Crosswater.

If you balance your head on the edge of the bath you can float too.

Be a shame to say goodbye to it all in 3 weeks.

Thats what it looked like when new

And nearly 5 yrs on
Excuse the crappy estate agent photos

I would have liked tiles but the floor was a bit flexible even with reinforcement. However very pleased with the vinyl and its nice under foot.

Once learning is to use adhesive spray rather than double side tape, especially on areas you walk on. Also make sure the room and vinyl is warm before you fit it.

Nice tiles above!

The nightmare bounce. We reset all the joist. And strengthened them and STILL had bounce so we (see Pic)

Raised it a little more and then added 22mm Ply onto it.

But just in case after everything settled we added Ditra decoupling membrane just in case of movement.

The actual floor is about another inch higher than that, after WEDI insulation. UFH snd screed. Then the mat and then the tiles.

Why would you tile under it? How are you going to support the bath frame to the floor correctly through tiles ?

Don't tile onto plaster on the walls either

What is the best option here?

When the old tiles are removed the wall will be in a state so will either need boarding or skimming.

In either scenario I assume the installer will tank around the shower unit and use a suitable adhesive elsewhere?

If the plasterboard comes off with the old tiles in places then the best option is to replace or board over with aqua panel or a similar tile board.

Very nice work. Nice use of space.

I'm not a big fan of ultra modern looking bathroom units but those look modern but not to the extent that they'll look dated in a couple of years time.

Where did you get your vanity unit from please?

Nice. Those tiles look deadly when wet though. I've polished granite in the kitchen and nearly killed myself on a number of occasions walking in with wet feet.

Mr stu how much if you don't mine me asking roughly to have it all done?

The labour (fitting, tiling, plastering, plumbing) was £2k. I did the painting and initial rip out.

Ikea!

Can you reach the loo roll?

I've either got long arms or the picture makes the gap look larger than reality! I actually sat on the can and told the guy where to posiiton it :D

You are right, they are more slippy due to the gloss finish, but not as bad as you might expect.

thanks that is a stellar job then for that amount, at least I know now roughly how much to ask for when I get a similar job done !
