****The Official The Avengers: Age of Ultron Thread ****

Saw this on Friday. Was pretty average. I think Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were poorly done.
Her powers became a bit fuzzy, and he somehow had super strength so he could destroy the robots so easily. I also didn't like how easily Captain America could destroy the robots and he even took direct punches from Ultron. He would have been torn apart by him, since the robots were basically Terminators. I think there were too many action sequences too, so it became like The Hobbit where you just want them to get it over with and you are not impressed anymore.

Quicksilver's death was also dumb and I didn't care that he died. That mother just left her kid there? What? And it kept showing her in all the civilian shots throughout the movie with her teddies half exposed. She must have been banging Joss or something.

To be fair when you watch the film it's not that clear.
First impressions makes it that she is a monster because she can't have children, it was a poorly written segment in the film

It's in the context of the conversation she has with Banner, where he's saying there's no future with him, no one can have a family with him. He brings up the subject. She's pointing out that she's the same as him in that regard.

I don't see how people can hear what she says, but ignore the dialogue she's replying to. Context is everything.

Apparently Widow is missing from a lot of stuff, look at the Age of Ultron posters etc, tbh Hawkeye is missing a lot as well, the main focus seems to be on those with some form of superpower/suit...

Which is weird when you consider Widow has the 3rd longest screen time in AoU. Thor is 8th. No trouble finding stuff with Thor on though :D

Hawkeye was 7th by the way. He at least makes it into the Marvel Universe Heroes Collection at Target.

You can also get multiple AoU Hawkeye figures from Toys R Us. Plus 2 Fury's and a War Machine. There's one Widow, with a Cap (also sold separately). Hawkeye and Vision get a Pop vinyl figure too, but Widow doesn't.

Wow, someone else who watched the same movie as me! I though it was extremely obvious but most other people who've seen it seem to have missed the reason "why" she called herself a monster, and it's exactly as you've pointed out.

One other thing that really got on my nerves was Quicksilver fighting the robots. Yes he's fast but he seems to punch the robots and beat them, he hasn't got superhuman strength!

Quicksilver does have peak human/low end superhuman strength, he's just short of Captain America. See http://marvel.wikia.com/Strength_Scale

Those Ultron bots are just like the remote suits in Iron Man 3 though, they explode if you give them a dirty look :D.

Went to go see this at 11am today as had some spare time. Walked into MyVue and there wasn't a sole on any counter either at ticket office or food area.

I overheard a couple say it was screen 5 so saved myself £9 and wandered in.

Anyway, I was slightly disappointed as my expectations were high. CGI seems average, story seems patched together and has been mentioned already, far too many forced jokes which didn't need to be there.

From the previews I was expecting a very sadistic, intelligent killer in Ultron. What we got was a boring, non threatening, nice guy with a few manic issues.

All in all it was watchable and will grab it on Bluray but it in no terms reaches the levels of the first.

Can't believe there's actually debate about this film and sexist connotations and then referencing merchandising. Wow, some people really need to get out.

I went with the missus a friend and his lass who is a froth at the mouth feminist and we always argue but she didn't notice a thing which tells me a lot. Some people these days just make it their life to be offended, sad *****.

Film itself was average, fight scenes were impressive (if too paced too fast so you could hardly see what was going on) but the story was nothing to shout about and it didn't really flow that well.

Bit of a cop out with the Hulk Buster v the Hulk scene:

The bit where the Hulk digs himself from the building that has just collapsed on him and then is sucker punched whilst still feeling groggy by the Hulk Buster. The Hulk Buster on one to one wouldn't have otherwise stood a chance.

Saw this earlier and didn't rate it at all. Its not a patch on the first film and pales in comparison to guardians of the galaxy which had a far more interesting plot and characters. Its like marvel has just thought "we'll gross over a billion regardless of what we do so **** it".

Quicksilver and the scarlet witch were both as enthralling as their lackluster performances in godzilla (actors, not characters, duh). Thor just seems to disappear with no real thought into the script, same with the utterly retarded romance with hulk and black widow which made absolutely no sense, especially when she was scared ****less of the guy due to the first avengers film!

The thing that really annoyed me the most though is this:

The vision - he barely appears in the film and in the big fight scene at the end hes barely there! For a character with such a silly amount of power, he could have just thrown the island thing that ultron made into space or various other shows of power, instead of tickling ultrons head with a laser beam. The only reason I can see why he didn't do that is due to DC doing the same thing with superman returns... Due to that, they barely used an obviously overpowered character in what was definitely a poorly written script.

I thought exactly the same as this too and was baffled by the media "shes a monster" reaction.

Just watched this last week, vaguely entertaining, not as good as the first one, becoming a little tired of some of these super hero flicks now. Becoming a little silly. :)

I agree about the end fight scene, where was he, off playing with his newly formed penis?!

Finally got around to watching it last night, and I really enjoyed it. Some of the action was a little too fast, but with CGI I guess it has to be so it doesn't look as fake as it would.

I'm guessing she didn't take her daughters out after the film to get them something with their favourite character on? The one who's in the film more than anyone except Cap and Iron Man?

Clark Gregg and Mark Ruffalo have both spoken out about it, should they get out more too?

If anyone thinks the reason she's on less merchandise or that the film itself is sexist then yes, they do need to get out more. I've no issue with speaking out about a colleague being seen as a lesser member of the cast with the marketing as long as they don't think the reason is sexism.

Yes, it's wrong that she's not more prominent on posters in relation to her role in the movie but it's still nothing to get ruffled over. I mean really, who cares?
It's nothing to do with sexism and purely down to popularity. All they're interested is cinema tickets and selling toys and therefore the more popular characters will get the lions share. End of. Most of the kids getting their parents to buy them merchandise will be boys, they are the target market.

My wife made the comment after watching AoU that the toy figure of Black Widow should have two main features. One is a reversible face; where one is really pretty and the other is really plain. I had to agree as that is usually how I find Scarlett in her many roles. The other aspect is inflating/deflating boobs; as they seem to change size markedly between scenes.

Got to love a wife who takes time to appreciate the female form. ;)
