Raped 10 year old forced to give birth

well sex education should start when they can actually understand it.

I think we all agree on that. Personally I think abortion is used too much but I would rather it was done in the open and legally/correctly and safely than with coat hangers in back alley clinics.

It's not about political correctness or equality it's just common sense the practice of abortion in my opinion is fine but Education and contraception should be the first port of call.

Yup, completely agree, we're on the same page here. But how young? I believe actual sex education should start 13-14 and anything younger should focus on abuse (as in no one is allowed to touch you down there etc etc)

By that age it is too late, they will have already spoken to friends about it and will be getting wildly inaccurate information.

Start with relationships and anatomy in primary school, puberty and the changes that brings before they hit it (so year 4/5) and contraception before they need it. Emphasis the risk of pregnancy from having unprotected sex before they start having sex or you have left it too late. We also need to be realistic and realise that some kids will break the law and have sex before 16.

I taught my kids (the basic principles rather than real detail) at the age of seven. To be honest by that age you are just putting off the inevitable awkward questions and it's more practical to get the chat done over a period of time before you have to reverse whatever rubbish they have overheard older kids saying in the playground.

Pretty much this. My daughter knows the principles at 9, she doesnt yet need to know the details.

I have that poster on ignore so won't see his posts. However, I think it is worth pointing out that you have made a logical error. This graphic explains why :

That's way too dumbed down. I could be wrong but something like that could only have been done by a man :p

Abortion is a horrible thought. Killing a defenceless child. So many things to think about. So horrible for the parents who have to make that choice. How each of us would react in a similar situation is hard to say. Life and death. So hard. Such a mad choice.

I think it's the woman's right to choose to rid what is essentially just a parasite from their body since it is until it's born 100% dependant on the host for life. I don't think it has any rights.

Wait, what?

You're saying it's perfectly ok for the woman to have an abortion up to any point until the baby is born?

It's not a child, it's a foetus. It wouldn't survive outside the womb and has no cognitive thought.

Well, in the cited case it's old enough that it could survive - being over 22 weeks.

I honestly don't think this particular case is easily shelved under either the pro-choice OR pro-life arguments. An abortion of a 22 week baby is no easy thing, either emotionally or physically.

compassion for an unborn foetus get a grip.

The law in my opinion is fine as it is.

The op says the girl is 22 weeks but in this country she wouldn't have to wait for a court case for approval she can just go and do it!

Totally right and being raped as a 10 year old and being forced to give birth is probably no easy thing emotionally or physically.

Regardless of my openess and happiness to allow women to choose what happens inside their body. I'm glad I don't share the religion of these people who can consciously make this decision in the name of their god....

Shouldn't have gone to a tribunal should have just been an automatic choice for the poor girl who has endured far too much.

Ontop of that

"The girl was taken to a shelter and her mother was imprisoned on 27 April and accused of failing in her duty of care. A judge is considering a further charge of being an accomplice in the rape. The stepfather is on the run."

WOW

Say what you want about the Tories but be glad you don't live in such a place.

IIRC the chances of it surviving at 22 weeks are very small, the chances of it surviving and not having major health problems and disabilities are even lower (basically without massive medical intervention in a modern well equipped and funded neonatal ICU it wouldn't, and even in one it's unlikely to).

It's a horrible situation for the poor girl, made even worse by the retarded way the law was applied in her case.

I think it's you who need to get a grip really. Your previous justification was pathetic too because a child who is born is 100% dependent on their parents, as are old people too with dementia for example, as are a lot of disabled people too. Are they all parasites, are you trolling or are you really that stupid and lacking in empathy?

Just want to clear this up, you are saying that it's ok for an unborn baby to be aborted at any point up until it's born right?
