Took the afternoon of to go riding with a few friends. Two of them bailed so the remaining two of us just headed up the Brickworks and then back down through bits of Cheshire. Really wanted to PR this segment so I'm pretty happy with the time. On top of that I PR'd a lot of the other Brickworks segments and finally started to overtake OMS and another decent climber I have on Strava. I'm coming for you guys :p

I think we need a wind adjusted time given the 20mph westerly for most of the day. :p I know what I'm doing tomorrow night if I get home in time!

:D

They're the ones, I compared them with my friends the other day and no discernible difference. Come with what looks like normal legit paperwork, case, box, cloth and 5 pairs of lenses. Not sure on the quality, but they advertise UV400!

Couple of club bits from me, firstly our club has recently been awarded £15,000 for various developments. More can be read here, be interesting to see how it is used. Hopefully to get a new kit made as our current one is dreadful!

Secondly our club secretary has been awarded the Go Ride volunteer of the year by BC, the guy is fantastic, doesn't ride much nowadays but always out at the events and always happy to chat to everyone old and young.

Finally little vid someone put together of our club run on Sunday, thought it wasn't a bad little edit. Filmed with a Sony cam on the bars. I'm in all black knee and arm warmers too.

What happens when you wear one of the darker lenses, your eyes let in more light, then it turns out they offer no UV protection (other than just having a bit of plastic would provide)?

That thought crossed my mind, but then even the cheapest crappiest sunglasses are UV400 rated so there's no real reason why they wouldn't be. If you wear contacts as well they will usually have some inbuilt UV protection (albeit not covering the full eye).

Always nice to get some PR's on the commute!

There may or may not have been a slight tailwind... They're all around 24-25 mph, can't see myself topping them for a while, maybe if I have a stab without the backpack sometime!

No wind tomorrow and sunny/cloudy 14c so going to try and get out for a decent ride after work :)

Good work :)

The winds have been crazy in the past few days. Helped me get a KOM yesterday, which I won't complain about, and a few podiums, which I will, because I wanted a wind-assisted KOM on, grr.

Been pretty slack with my riding recently but my body has decided to reward me by making my short ride (10 - 16 miles or so) average speed just tip over 19 mph without too much effort. Which is nice.

Not sure how much of that is riding with fresh legs or the bit of extra saddle height I'm riding with now.

Edit - Doesn't feel like that long ago I was celebrating being able to maintain 15 mph over 12 miles :o

Do you know if the knock off Oakleys are exactly the same in terms of their shape? I have a genuine pair + genuine additional lenses, so have always toyed with getting another frame for them (you can't seem to get them legitimately, without getting another set of lenses)... but I'm not sure if they'll fit.
I can ask the boss to see if she can get a set of frames only from somewhere?

Raced in an E123 Crit last night, was expecting to get dropped like a stone as there were a bunch of PedalHeaven and Nuun Sigma Sport guys there, but was able to handle the pace fine, until I got a puncture after 10 miles.

Very frustrating, not having much luck atm.

Thinking of trying to swap out my carbon tubs for some clinchers now, as its becoming a massive pain in the a

I know that feeling very well :) It's very rewarding to see the averages creep up.

Good effort, still remember the first time I cracked 20mph avg on a ride. Good feeling! Probably able to do around 24mph now
