Why would the nationality of the father make a person ineluctable for leadership?.
well it has an impact for ordinary people re: security clearance for some roles, perhaps it isn't the case for the top job, still I can see where the OP is coming from
Its got much less of an impact than it used to for clearances. Foreign partners cause a bigger issue, and there are plenty of MPs with them!

The funniest thing about lefties is they are utterly convinced that what they need is a more socialist candidate, to avoid being seen as Tory Lite.
The next funniest thing is that they are also convinced that nobody understood their policies this time around, which is how another Tory government got elected. M'kay.
Maybe if they tried importing lots of poor people from Africa to vote for them ?

From what i can tell, as long as it's not Umunna everyone seems to be saying more or less the same thing. It's up to everyone else to make their case up until the election, but on first impressions Kendall seems to do the best in front of a camera.
