Leg waxing is a go at 11am today... I'll get pics and video up when I can. Donation link in sig, and thanks to all those who've donated so far!

One of the charities I'm raising money for is working to find a cure for a rare genetic disorder called Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, or "Stone Man Syndrome". The condition means that the body replaces normal tissue with bone, with the skeleton ultimately taking over the body and leaving the sufferer imprisoned in their own body and dying like that. The condition is exacerbated by medical investigations like biopsies as scar tissue grows as bone; likewise any attempt to remove the bone growth will only trigger more. Children with the condition may need to be careful to even avoid bruising themselves as this can trigger the ossification process. FOP Friends is a charity working to support sufferers and their families, and to fund medical research into finding a cure or treatment for the condition. The research may also prove useful in treating other diseases.

Please donate if you can.

@James07 what wheels are you currently on? As grudas has said Aksium Ones are pretty low end. Even £130 will get some decent hand built wheels - my mavic open sport rims on tiagra hubs cost about that.

Did 4 RP laps in the pouring rain last night, quite liberating in the wet oddly. Essentially had to ride tempo as well to keep warm. Sketchy down broomfield on slick tubs though  Also surprisingly quick conditions.

I now have a loose spoke :/

Worth riding 10 miles to the lbs on? Or just put the wheel on my back again?

If it's just 1 then tighten it up! Although you'll usually find that the neighbouring spokes have loosened too, especially if you've ridden on it (nearly always the case). Check how true it is afterwards, this can be a test of patience with these Giant wheels! I'm waiting on new nipples to arrive, but may hold off rebuilding it until I have a wheelset to use.

I need new wheels these stock ones really are bad. Broke my living room window today though so it'll have to wait!

These are what grudas has put a ton of miles into and not even had to true - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/campagnolo-khamsin-asymmetric-g3-wheelset/

I'll be ordering a pair today as in theory I get paid today! ;)

Edit: Maybe not! Rosebikes have Mavic Aksium One wheels for £115 plus 10% off this weekend plus £10 voucher for first orders making the total sub £100!

Cracking deal really, but around the £100 mark there are lots of options.

No, dont ride it.
It would be fine but it'll put a lot of stress on the other spokes and they'll be more likely to break in future.

They'll work themselves loose too!

Possibly, is it a tyre off job?

Only really when advanced truing a wheel (it's just easier to see/judge with the tyre off), basic truing you should be ok with it on.

Guys, cotton caps, talk to me. I have a big head and got one of these and can barely get it on my head, when I do it's too tight to be comfortable! This is without even thinking of putting a helmet on top! Everywhere I look they're 'One-size-fits-all-except-roady' :(

Had a slight issue last night (in the wet) and this morning where my rear brake isn't releasing. Going to give it a good clean at lunchtime, it's been wearing much more than the front for a while and is near the end of the pads. I think it's just dust/road crud from the wet weather either in the caliper joint/spring or on the cable gumming it up. Seems to be never ending problems at the moment!:(

Changing Brake/Gear cables I haven't done yet, although I really should! Is it safe to just buy inner cables? Which does everyone recommend for all weathers? Jagwire? Or is that just the outers?

Masochist!

Once I got home from my commute (soaked) I put the heating on and had a hot shower.:D

Saw that earlier, impressive ride and the segment haul is insane! Well done! :)

I also had to thaw my hands and feet in the shower for about 10 minutes after the ride :o

haha thanks, RP is a segment fest to be fair, there is literally a segment for every tiny section there.

that rain annoyed me yesterday! total british weather, wednesday - sunny/hot.. thursday - feels like I've just moved countries cold, windy, rain.. today - nice and warm again?!

commute was wet as hell! let's just hope sunday is at least as nice as today :o

Campagnolo Khamsin Asymmetric G3?

Those better than the Mavics?

in my opinion yes, I've had good experience with them :) they're not the lightest but they're very tough! I'd buy again tbh.. to a point where I'm even considering getting another set because they last so well!

Done & Good luck!

Done & Good luck! The possibilities of laughing at seeing Videos of leg waxing is one of my main reasons for donating ;)

I think most of the bad rep comes from the clincher being the 'go-to upgrade' tire for many retail outlets where many people go to without doing their own research. Time and again you hear of horror stories about their lack of grip in the wet - although I'm betting more all weather riders use clinchers than tubs (bear with me here...!) leading to more negative press for the tires. From what I read before the same tire layers and compounds are used between the tubs and clinchers so I can't see how the tubs would be 'better grip' than the clinchers in the wet? Just less people using them so less horror stories...?

TL;DR Skaterskins lolz

Purely going on feel the tub feels sticky like the grand prix or gp4000s. Normal gators feel shiny when new.

I've ran them and find them OK, gp4000s front and rear now and they are so much better. Less harsh and more grip.

My boss hates gatorskin clinchers as he'll spin the wheel going good up a damp hill.

I think Gatorskin clinchers would spin out whilst trying to ride through glue.

I find it odd that so many riders have them..! it's just shops recommending them without any experience really! hardly if ever have I seen a shop recommend anything other than gatorskins?

I got a couple of 80's team copies off ebay that fit my large head but I don't wear a helmet with them. I've also got a Rapha one and that needed stretching to make it wearable.
