Mad Max: Fury Road

just got back from watching this......absolute quality.

The sort of film you could put on for evening, kick back with a couple of mates + beers then rinse and repeat for successive nights without getting bored.

Just in case any of you don't realise this was written and directed by George Miller who wrote and directed the first 3 films.

I fully believe this is the reason it is so good.

Yeah you can see some of the technique's he used like the quick zoom and other thing's I cant name. But it doesnt look like an old film either.

Film is just insane, go see it you wont regret it(probably).

Just got back from watching this, really enjoyed it although personally I feel some of the raving is a little over the top. Solid 7/8 out of 10.

Pretty much this. As a rule I tend to not like films that much so I was surprised that I enjoyed bits of it as much as I did. Still, it dragged on a bit in parts and as already said, as much as Mel Gibson is an idiot, nobody can really replicate his performance in Mad Max.

I watched this last night. I was a bit dissappointed TBH. I avoided reading any reviews for it, but from comments on forums I thought it was going to be really good.
I thought it was a bit too long and let down by the script. It was basically "get chased in 1 direction, then get chased back in the other direction". The main characters barely spoke, so I didn't really care about them, especially Max. And really it should have been called "Furiosa", since it's pretty much her story and Max is just a supporting character. The dialogue was too muddled/low volume, so I often couldn't understand what they were saying, especially that War Boy that was helping them.

I liked the imagintion in the movie, the action and the music, but overall it was just a bit meh. And when Furiosa realised the "green place" was gone, it didn't have as much impact as it should have, since she basically had one scene saying why she was going there, so it didn't get built up as some extraordinary paradise.

I didn't get exactly how the bad guy got killed - she put the spear in his mask I thought, so I thought his mask just got ripped off, but somehow his whole face got ripped off.

And what was that "mother's milk" that Max washed his face in after he took out that car all by himself?

Overall I would give it 7/10, but I probably won't ever watch it again, and it won't be going in my blu-ray collection.

I read or watched nothing previous to seeing the film today. All I knew was that the vehicles were ridiculous, for example the car with twin V8 engines. I built in my mind it was going to be like a Fast and Furious film in the desert. But that didn't really happen, the cars were props basically, I was expecting a bit of character to them for all the effort that went into them.

I enjoyed the film though, I rate it 7/10.

For anyone that didn't know the actor that played the main bad guy is the same one that played the main bad guy in the first film.

Great film.

Nails the Mad Max vibe perfect and then some.

Not sure what the angst is about it being a feminist movie. I beg to differ. I actually think it was the opposite in disguise and the foolish have been suckered in. Usually have a lot of time for the Male Rights types but they really need to think more about what they are seeing, if they've seen it at all.

My reasoning here....

Theron's character worked for the villains and played a part in enslaving the women to start with.

Mad Max actually kicks Theron's ass during their first encounter even when he was at a disadvantage.

A lot of the women cowered in the back of the truck for most of the film.

There is a moment where a lass goes on a rant about men destroying the Earth. Not long after, she ends up getting squashed under the baddies truck just as Mad Max winks at her thinking she is safe.

The all female biker gang were actually happy for the two blokes to be helping out.

Mad Max saves Theron's life with nifty blood transfusion.

Not a feminist film.

I don't have any opinion about it being a feminist film or not but your reasons for it not being seem somewhat flawed. A strong female character doesn't need to be physically stronger than everyone around them, nor does a film need to make every single woman unrealistic in order for it to show women in a strong light.

They called it a "high octane assault on the senses" (Register).

I am inclined to agree - what a fantastic action movie to kick off the summer. As a homage, reboot, and new direction it works fantastically.

Excellent stuff.

Just watched this tonight, and wow what a movie.

The v8 starting up at the start sent a shiver down my spine and that's when I knew it was gonna be an amazing movie, evoking that sort of response out the audience so early on shows a director who knows what he's doing.

Won't discuss the plot, aside to say the action is pretty much non stop the whole way, was really sad to see it come to an end.
