put it this way, would you buy a 4gb card if you knew AMD will be re-releasing the same card at 8gb, in 6 weeks time !!!!!!!!!! dont you think AMD realise this

this thread is getting very stupid indeed

Yes

I bought both 290Xs and 980s with 4gb and for me that was a major selling point.

8gb 290Xs are quite slow compared to their 4gb counterparts.

Sometimes people think about what they are buying and don't just go for the biggest number they see.

Let's wait for benchmarks and facts.

get out of here with your logic this thread is for fighting and one upmanship!

but seriously yes we should wait. I mean whats one more month anyway. Hopefully by then the drivers will be out of beta too :D

LOL, no.

You're just saying that because you'll buy any new card that's released 4 times over.

There are some cards I avoid !!!

Out of the Maxwell cards I have

GTX 960s

GTX 980s

GTX TitanXs

Spot the one I avoided, that was lucky.:D

I tend to avoid cut down cards or bulked up cards as they can have problems.

GTX 960 and Titan X are my favs from Maxwell.

960 is seriously underrated. Performance VS power consumption / heat output is epic :)

Speculating and debating is fun. live a little :p

Well if these cards don't ship with 8GB then it's just going to drive me towards the 980ti, having upgraded to 4k my 970's 3.5GB just cant cut it in AAA titles!

Need moar VRAM!

It would be utter madness to release the 390X with 4GB yet have the 380X ship with 8GB

This cards not for you, didn't you know 99% of gamers don't run on 4K.

It doesn't add up, I think at the very least the top flagship AMD card with ship with 8GB HBM, it might be priced high like Titan X but I'm positive these aren't just going to be 4GB.

The lower down cards could have less which is fair enough as 970 has 3.5GB+0.5GB / 980 has 4GB.

..

no, the 970 was a year ago so back then 4gb was just about ok, but from now on even a mid range card at only 4gb looks too low....(mid range = 1080p)

it looks like to me, mid range = 6gb......top range= 8/12gb

Mal X

Could you try something with your 12gb TitanX and 2160p TV

Load up a copy of The Witcher 3

Max the settings out @2160p

See if you can get playable fps, extremely unlikely

Check the VRAM usage and you will find it is only using 3gb.

All cards/setups are a balance between memory and GPU grunt. There is no point having 12gb if you don't have the grunt to use it.

Nothing much will really change with the arrival of the 390X

.

What ever setup you use, you will probably have to compromise somewhere.

that's true and this is a huge problem for AMD, because the Titan X has stolen all the thunder 3 months ago........the 390X is merely playing catch up and what about the 980ti ???? we have no idea what it looks like, it could be fantastic !!

but AMD have something very exciting.........the 390X2 Dual, because this is definitely the card to buy, it'll blow the Titan X to pieces ;);)

Not without some drivers/profiles it wont!
