Network Rail industrial action

I was pretty annoyed to find out via the news that Virgin Trains were cancelling services, had booked tickets via their site and had no notifications at all.

We decided not risking getting caught with hotel charges so cancelled things last night but had we found out later, we wouldn't have even been able to do that.

...the over paid signallers in the same job before that is centralised/digitalised over the next 20 years...

Overpaid? Are you a Daily Mail reader or something? Signallers aren't paid that great for what they do. I couldn't do their job.

The should also be some army personnel or something trained to drive trains as a backup for strikes.

Do you know how much time and money it costs to train a train driver? How many you'd need and then they'd have to keep their compentancy up by regularly driving every few weeks and being assessed every few months... Sounds more expensive for the public to me.

just to say. you can get the bus from victoria. depending on train, it can sometimes be only a little little bit slower. plus a lot cheaper

yeah we looked into that too. taxi to victoria line (overground was affected by the potential strike) then tube, to 3 hour coach journey.

FWIW, hotel has offered the room back to us at the same price, so may be going after all

was going to inform you all the strike has been 'suspended' it hasn't been officially cancelled just the unions is taking the new offer back to the staff, and it obviously isn't going to happen this weekend so the strike is effectively cancelled this weekend but may happen again in future if the agreement isn't met, but oh well trains are back on happy travelling! :)

Is it fair that the top bosses give themselves big payrises and bonuses while effectively giving their staff bugger all?

This is OcUK. Working class/poor people should be thrown into furnaces to heat the homes of their rich betters.
