Google+ Dead?

I think it is a far better solution than facebook ever was. Unfortunately the masses never really saw the point in converting so why leave?

It's great and very active for the FOSS community (I follow lots of people and projects related to FOSS). However IRL friend wise, none of them use it.

Oh and the biggest difference I've noticed between Facebook and G+ is that G+ didn't make me question why the **** I was friends with particular people or how my relatives could be so stupid. Also, a lack of **** that fills my timeline that I have to actively ignore. More technically inclined and competent people use G+ I find.

I actually follow a lot of people on Google+, all of whom are very active .... and none of whom are in this country. The number of posts I read on there is probably higher than the number I receive on my feeds on Facebook and Twitter combined.

Google employees then :p

Marriage* :p

I signed upto google+ and have got a profile somewhere, but never logged into it again.
Facebook is the only social media platform I actively use, even then it's to just look at my feed and watch funny videos, I'm not active in posting updates etc.

Social media brings out the retard in most people, so on that premise I'm very cautious with it :p

not on my personal account but we moved from exchange to gmail at work and ditched lync/communicator...

everyone then had a google+ profile and were using hangouts etc.. main use of which is to flirt with female co-workers

popped up with a bunch of people it suggests you should follow or add to circles or whatever... most faces I knew from the office - aside from one very attractive blonde girl... wasn't sure why it suggested I should connect with her, but it looked like a few other guys had - turned out she was a receptionist in our Prague office - soon a whole bunch of guys from London had added her...

It's amazing how often it's died, and yet how many posts I get on my feed daily, it's like the ultimate zombie :p

The numbers for the Forbes article is based on are a joke, it uses public posts yet the whole point of G+ with the 'circles' and 'communities' is that a lot of peoples posts won't be public, I think I have 2 public posts, one of which is 'updating' (or setting...) my profile picture.

It also doesn't take into account comments on other peoples posts, again a lost of activity there will be comments rather than posts.

Yes a huge number of people will never use it, but more realistic numbers I've seen over the years have put actual active users at ~2-400 million, who knows really but certainly there's enough that it's not 'dead' or dying.

It is mostly filled with the nerd/geek community though, lots of Open Source stuff in general, Linux and obviously Android specifically, so not for everyone but plenty for me.

Considering the parts individually just makes sense, take Hangouts for example, started out on G+ and now migrated to being the default SMS app on Android.

Most of my friends don't use it much if at all, but also several of those (and myself) aren't on Facebook either, or not actively at least, but frankly I don't want to use a social networking site to keep in touch with my friends, there's the real world for that :p

I refuse to sign up to G+ despite being a GMail user, so that restricted me from using Hangouts on browser/Android, YT channel/comments etc.

So I went back to iOS and stopped using the other services.

Your move Google.

It's full of stuff Google wants in it, and contains nothing I want.

Google+ is anything you want it to be!

I thought it was frightening lurking old school friends on Facebook a few days ago that I didn't know were on. The amount that were once gorgeous looking 15 - 18 girls that now look like ones that sleep around and very haggard. As well as the amount of makeup they wear that they look so oily/smeary and the amount of weight they have put on. Broken marriages, 2 - 4 kids. Selfie obsessed. Just about every bit of detail filled in about their whole life.
To be honest it looked more like what you'd see at the horse racing events.

Let alone the guys, the majority that are bald or fine traces of hair left and let their physique go. The thing I'm shocked at the most is how the majority of them have ended up working for the council since they left school. Or some that became teachers.

The majority of them from their Facebook feeds sound very happy miserable? I can't see how that is possible. I find it bizarre the ones that done well in school appear to have had crummy lives. Only the few guys that I saw have ended up working with Hewlett-Packard and such and they aren't the ones showing off on Facebook with every bit of detail on them.

Once again from the information they've given about themselves, over 40 people searching through… What is it with these people listing every TV series, soaps, reality shows that they must list. I thought it was truly frightening the amount of information on them.

Scary how accurate this film is.

Seems so,
Lots of hate for it on Youtube because it screwed a bunch of stuff up for no reason, plus nobody had a choice in the matter, that almost guarantees everyone will hate you for it.

I also appear to have two accounts on Youtube but I don't know what they are supposed to be for? And trying to get this to work on an old iPad is a nightmare of password tokens, I still can't get it to work, have to use //m.youtube now.

I actually use it quite a lot, but mostly because it sparked a really good 3D Printing community. So it's that and my 3D Printing friends..
