*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Well we failed the 34 PoE last night too. Only had 2 Ghally's so couldn't use that cheesy method and trying to do it the proper way is the most frustrating and difficult/cheap thing in the entire game by a huge margin.

The mechanics of the fight are fine, but as others have said that damn enemy just doesn't show itself, or teleports around and with all those damn hobgoblins shooting at you the hardest part of the fight is getting into the open long enough to find that enemy and kill it.

I can see how it could be done, but there is zero room for even the smallest error from anyone on the team. On the right side, if you get the enemy down he tends to spawn on that side again straight away, so you can keep taking him out every 10 seconds to keep the buff on constantly - if it stacks? you could build up 3-4 of them with each character then you can safely just take the boss out without worrying about the bubbles for a few minutes.

But, it's just too random to attempt that way - and those major hobgoblins simply take too much shots to take down and there are about 6 of them, on top of all the normal ones.

Every time our team has done this we haven't relied bursting the boss down with Gjallarhorn. For the periods where we couldn't find a goblin we relied on a combination of shotguns and supers. 6-7 rounds from Found Verdict will break the shield, provided you have at least some shields before the red shield appears you should be able to break it reliably before you die. It usually only takes us 1-2 attempts to finish this boss.

You shouldn't be complaining about shotgun ammo, you should be rolling in special ammo synths by now :p I've seen Super Good Advice mentioned above so I will try that for my next attempt and sack off Gjallarhorn altogether but I would be surprised if it can outdo the burst damage of Found Verdict.

I think that was our problem really - don't have any 365 secondary weapons at all and the ones we were using just didn't cut it. The odd time I did break out I was zero health and splash damage from the bosses projectile from 20 yards away was enough to finish me. Or one of the many hobgoblins who teleport to surround your position. I'd also popped Synth for heavy so it was on cool down a lot. lol.

As others have said, in theory I find the mechanics of the fight fine and they have the potential to be fun - I just think without the right setups on 3 characters the random AI and sheer amount of enemies is too much to control.

I'll get into Trials on each character, get a load of Etheric light, upgrade some of my other weapons and then I'll feel better prepared for any PoE content in the future. Guess I just feel annoyed that we all got to Round 5 with ease then the difficulty jumped up and we suddenly didn't have the gear to clear it - that's a clear balance issue.
Make the earlier rounds harder so you know immediately you are not ready yet, or give out a checkpoint for Round 5 so you can resume or something.

At least they are trying things other than 'shoot all the enemies' so I'm happy there - just don't like wasting my time I guess

Ahh 365 legendaries.....one day.....one day.....

Nope sorry, not allowed!!

I'd be content with anything other than rocket launchers. I have so many of the damn things - including 3 Ghally, 2 Truth and dragons breath plus a bunch of legendary ones.

If I could get a really good shotgun and sniper I'd be much better prepared

Yup, worked for all the runs last night and we ran it with Dr3dd at 33 twice :) The other main thing that I don't haven't seen mentioned much is that all three players should group up as they would for a cleanse in VoG. This way when the bubbles hit, whoever has super can use it to damage all 3 detainment bubbles and everyone can DPS with shotguns. Celestial Nighthawk, Bladedancer showstopper and Titan hulk smash all work well at breaking the detainment bubbles.

Well the 32 is a walk in the part this week, at least I've got an armour core in the bank to hit 34 on reset, and 34 on warlock after doing one more 32.

I was running the chest with the hive armour boost perk, didn't have problems, straight through first time with some randoms off LFG. Arc tracking launcher to melt the wizards as soon as they appear, easy mode after that.

FWIW we just stayed spread out across the arena so the adds weren't focused on one area. One person gets in trouble, just hide for a second and the aggro will switch to someone else.

I have found that dropping your bubbles *NOT* on the mines, but somewhere in the open where all the adds can see it, means it takes all the aggro while your other guys can get on with dealing the mines relatively easy.

Week 1: players complain that the mechanics and fights are too easy.

Week 2: players complain that the mechanics and fights are too hard + Gjalla becomes a necessity.

People will genuinely find anything to complain about. I'm sorry, but I have not come across one single PvE encounter in this game that demands top level gear. Everything is possible, you just need to refine your strategies and practice teamwork. It still annoys me that you can complete the hardest content in the game with very minimal effort. In WoW for example, I remember it taking months of grinding gear and wiping to finally beat end game raids.

This mentality is replicated in ToO, and it really irritates me. If you are unable to get to the lighthouse, then do what every other player did and practice. Don't complain that it's too hard and unfair because you get rinsed by better players. You only get better by playing better opponents. Trials is meant to be competitive PvP, so what do you expect? However, on the flip side, I think Bungie need to consider implementing a ranking system and private/custom lobby similar to Halo 2 & 3. I'm surprised they haven't already.

Bungie have catered for both the PvE and PvP hardcore in this DLC, yet people still complain. It baffles me.

Edit: Aside from practice, I think a major factor that certainly helped me, Venom and Rabbit is that we've been playing together for the best part of the games lifespan. If you learn how your teammates play, you can complement their play styles. I know how Venom and Rabbit play, therefore I adapt so we all fit together. Exactly the same for trials, I know when to play aggressive, counter, swap out etc. It helps.

I don't think many people have an issue with the difficulty of the content per se, it's a problem with being gimped by being under-levelled.

Go give Qodron a go with 2x33s and no 365 legendaries. It's probably do-able with a lot of patience but it's not fun. I'm sure the fight is pretty good when you're 34! I wouldn't know because a poxy random number generator has decided I have to play in gimped mode.

This is precisely why I like Destiny, because all the content is accessible and achievable for people who can't afford to commit huge chunks of time like WoW/Eve and the like require. I can just about fit in one 2-3 hour stretch once a week to do the endgame content, and it's been enough for me to enjoy everything in Destiny to date.

Strolling through 4 PoE 34 rounds at 33 and then hitting a brick wall, with no intermediate rewards and no checkpointing is a bit of a kick in the balls, I hope they introduce some kind of progress tracking.

I'm finally a level 32 with my Hunter (first time around for me as I'm a noob)so guess it's about time I tried some Nightfalls and Raids?

Yeah definitely get on some nightfalls or PoE. The PoE 28 is dropping reasonable chance of legendary engrams etc. I'm done for the week but I'm sure there are people who'll be around over the weekend to help you out with stuff. Definitely give Vault of Glass a go, it's good fun :)

Someone has posted on reddit saying Xür will have the following tomorrow:

Titan: Crest of Alpha Lupi
Warlock: Nothing Manacles
Hunter: Achlyophage Symbiote
Weapon: Patience and Time
Engram: Helmet

Let's see if he's right...

If he is, it means I can stock up on heavy ammo and try to get the hunter + warlock helm :p:D

FML - finished the level 34 PoE earlier and got kicked with Beetle just after the scoreboard screen after killing the final boss

LOL couldnt even rejoin my fireteam...

ps3ud0

Got my jellyhorn up to 365 now so if you wanna retry the 34 poe at any point give me a shout. I still need to do poe 32 on my hunter aswell so same goes for that.

I really need another run at that too after Wed nights frustration with it.

Didn't really want to go back through it unless it was with 3x maxed Ghally's to make 100% sure the end boss could be killed quickly! :p
