I'll be at Sunderland on Saturday for the Vulcan, love seeing it flying.

Cant decide whether to just bring the compact camera with 8x zoom thats a bit long in the tooth, or clean up the CCD and do the job right, borrow my g/f's Fuji S2 Pro and 80-300 Sigma lens.

Decisions decisions.....

hopefully the weather wont be crap like the day i went last year, was so foggy only one plane went out , no one could see it so they didnt bother with anymore lol

Hoping to see it at Throckmorton and Cosford.
Also, important note for anyone considering either of those events - they are advance tickets ONLY.

I'm not far from Cosford, I've never been though, as the traffic is always awful :(

I've seen XH558 howl at RIAT though :D

I normally get there as soon as I can for the gate opening.
Just have to fill a few hours then before the flying starts!

Not sure if they still do but I also used to go in the back way rather than the main road.

Interesting, traffic not a problem then?

I'm tempted to try one of the Camping sites that overlook the runway at RIAT/Fairford, it seems quite well priced with toilets, showers, bar and food facilities

It wasn't the last time I went, although that was 2009.
I used an entrance on the A464.
I think the majority of families etc will get there mid morning, so getting there early, there are only the hard core, or daft ones like myself :)

RIAT on the other hand....
First year I went queued for 3 hours!

I'm spoilt as hey do their test flights right over where I work every year. I guess its because Elvington airfield is so close in case of any emergencies awesome seeing her fly. The noise is incredible

I work at Doncaster airport so get a pretty similar experience. Going to be mad on its last flight with all the spotters.

Sad to hear it will longer fly after this year :( was lucky enough to see it twice at Waddington in 2010 and 2012 Nothing sounds like that plane its just an unbelievable sound even when it goes slow it somehow draws emotion from you :)

Very sad to hear but I suppose the airframe can only take so much.

I've been lucky enough to sit in the cockpit of XL319 and see it a few times and remember it landing for the last time at the old Sunderland airport before Nissan was built.

Fantastic machine and one of my favourite jets although the EE Lightning will take some knocking off the top.

At the little Bournemouth aviation museum they have a chopped of lighting cockpit you can sit in. It scared me senseless just sitting there imagining the thing moving
