It still amazes me that people completely bypassed the whole Korean monitor thing. I don't want the thread to go off topic here but I got my Qnix 1440p monitor nearly three years ago. Overclocks to 120 hz, no dead pixels £200. Yet here we are years later (ok not 144hz) but still peeps trembling over the price tag for a £370 screen.

Agreed. Have a Qnix too (preferred Yamasaki Catleap but that had one stuck pixel, cost twice as much & I sold it). It shows that IPS 120hz can be done fairly economically. Hope that the Korean (well Chinese now) manufacturers will start offering A grade no-name screens (as opposed to A+ ones for Apple & Dell) at 21:9 AR or 4K overclocked though I guess DP 1.3 will have to become standard first.

They probably will. It will run on the same hardware as DX 12 does. We will know more this summer since Vulkan is supposed to get finished specifications in August.

So we don't know 100%, If there's no official word from Nvidia they could boycott it like Mantle if there unhappy regarding how it plays with there cards in comparison to AMD's.

EDIT: It looks like they are supporting it.

Check here...

https://www.khronos.org/vulkan

"Will work on any platform that supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and up"

All their material for it basic sells it as a new API for all modern GPUs, cross platform, cross vendor etc, so they are certainly aiming for nVidia and there's even an nVidia logo at the bottom of the page.

"Working Group Participants"

So it looks like it will basically be the new OpenGL and so should be supported by anyone who currently supports that.

They cannot boycott it...it runs on steam os, linux and all other windows not just W10 like dx12. Also as Dice/EA and Square Enix voted for mantle and they will stay with vulkan i don't think would be wise to boycott a good chunk of AAA games.

Exactly the case, khronos just took mantle (well techicly amd gave it) implemented some changes, and voila heres Vulkan the new opengl.

That depends on if Dice/EA and Square Enix are making their games Vulkan exclusives or if they'll support Vulkan and DX12. If they do support DX12 then there's no reason Nvidia couldn't boycott it without missing out on AAA games.

I don't think they will, because unlike Mantle, they have no reason to. Infact if Nvidia are part of the Khronos group then they've probably had some input into it.

Well just sold one my GPU's am ready for new line up :D hoping it's water cooled and less than £500
Wishful thinking?

I'm planning to get a water cooled card to, I could do it myself but don't want to mess with warranty etc. The EVGA Hybrid cards are looking really nice, tidy card with backplate and cooler fitted. Def interested in them just wish AMD would hurry up and show their new cards already :)

Writing two low level api ports would be pointless imho, and EA is already in the mantle/vulkan camp.

I got a feeling this is going to spank the tx/ti. Check Nvidia out, dropping a card before its competitors big launch, it's as if they know they are in for a kicking so are making hay while the sun shines.
