***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

The latest Lego Ideas set to be approved is a bit disappointing, considering the others that were in the mix :(

Cough...

New Ideas set (we haven't even got Doctor Who or Wall-E yet!) will be a marble maze...

But yeah, not sure what to make of it. On one hand technically it seems excellent, and it's unique to a degree, but on the other not very exciting unless you get a hard-on for hand-built, plastic-block games of skill :o

Thats what I get for posting and running :p

Still no news on the Big Bang set or Walle. That Caterham is fantastic.

I prefer my small flying ones to be in mid air battles!

Are the TIE Fighter and X-Wing to scale with each other? I always figured the TIE to be a bit smaller, at least in the games. The X-Wing seems to be a larger scale model.

You're bricklinking the UCS Falcon?

Fancy divulging a cost for that? :D

I'm aiming for an average per brick of 10p or under including postage.

I've placed two orders so far. Wasn't sure where to start so went with the expensive parts first, looked for a decent alternative if possible then the cheapest price for those parts (Most of the internal technic structure I'm doing in black, I'm modding the engines so won't be worrying about the ship mast thingys and I'll be using a plain radar dish) . Then bought as many other parts as I could get from the same seller.

So in this batch, I've bought the black radar dish for the exhaust vents from a seller with the lowest price with the minimum required.

The other batch was for the expensive L technic parts. I've bought black as the yellow are silly money. Again, buying as much as I could from that seller.

Not looking forward to the inventory check :)

Crikey. I was planning on doing the same build.

£800 isnt that unreasonable though, you cant get the kit for that these days.

What are people's thoughts about the UCS Tie Fighter as an investment? I'm considering buying one and shoving it in a cupboard for a few years. Good idea?

Probably not (IMO).

I have the feeling these UCS sets are now produced in higher volumes (especially in the Disney/new film era), and I also don't think it has the long-term appeal of something like the Shuttle or Falcon etc.

I'm really teetering. I could always buy it and see how it goes, failing that it'll make an awesome gift or something one day. Lego is always an awesome gift.
