Who cares if it doesnt beat the TI, what I took from that was that it seems to be in the ballpark area of the

Its not that, they will have gone backwards, 4GB, < 400 Watts, worse performance than previous gen

The 980TI is 42% faster than the 290X, if AMD can't get there with +45% shaders, GCN 1.1 vs GCN 1.2 (+10%) and HBM.

If despite all that, its 100 Watts less power efficient, the +45% shaders are not scaling well, HBM isn't helping.....

Something will have gone very very wrong, they would have got a better more power efficient GPU by using Tonga with GDDR5 and a hand full more shaders.

From that link, it rumoured at $749 for the 4GB Fiji XT, which is less memory than the 980Ti (albeit it faster) and performance on par with the Ti. So 6GB at $649 now or wait for 4GB at $749 (rumoured)?

I guess i will wait and see. I wont pay 750 for the 4gb if it does not soundly beat the 980ti, and, even if it was 10% slower for that money ill just get the 980.

AMD have to price this pretty low. Build their base back up and get some loyal customers.

Maybe do what 1+1 are doing! They already have bad support (drivers) just lower the price and we'll accept late drivers.

Yep, they've paid 400 quid for that 40$ of GDDR5 in some cases, so I hope they enjoy it immensely.

Sure we will, some times it's nice to have the best regardless of the cost ;)

You're forgetting that the Ti has to clock higher to nip at the heels of the TX so runs hotter / louder as well. (Water cooling could fix this though).

Read some reports of coil whine as well. So there are some benefits to having the TX. That extra frame buffer is by far the biggest though.

I hope there are 8gb cards widely available at a competitive price. Buying a high end card with 4gb would not sit comfortably with me. Rumours are just rumours until the specs are officially released.

About £350 if those rumours are right.

Think we need to see some reviews of decent aib cards soon to get a proper conclusion on the 980ti. The 290x looked like an over hot joke on reference coolong.

Good call and it is only rumours. I just wish AMD would at least give some info to entice people to wait it out and hold off buying the 980Ti but with the way that nothing is being said and rumours more and more pointing at 4GB, I can't blame people for not waiting.

Its one of two things, either the latest rumours are trolling, or AMD really have gone backwards.

We will find out in the next couple of days.

4GB, <400 Watts, between a 980 and a 980TI.

If that is right, and it seems incredibly backwards to me....

AMD should not bother with HBM at this point, clearly its adding nothing but expense and lack of capacity.

There is 0 Power savings, and 0 performance benefit.

A 3200 shader Tonga GPU with 8GB of GDDR5 will put it around the same performance for less cost and probably less power.

Either that rumour is as far out as it looks to me, or AMD are about to go under having got it horribly wrong.

[mode]My god the amount of FUD in these posts.

It's a link from a click bait website, that's it. Plus you are just spewing rubbish. [/mode] ;)

Now now humbug we cannot have you talking about AMD that way, people will get confused. :p:D:p

Agreed, the EVGA Hybrid 980 Ti is the one to watch out for. Will be faster than Titan X out of the box and run cool and quiet.

Really want to see a review for 980 Ti / Titan X Hybrid's..

Ha ha indeed. It's like a manic depressive's convention in this thread at the moment.

What do you expect, no new GPU's in years. Rumours of flagship coming with 2 x 8 pin and requiring tons of power along with a 4GB framebuffer. I don't think AMD fans are being left with a lot to be happy about.

Enough of promises and maybes, people want to see something tangible, like maybe a new actually decent product.

AMD @ Computex tomorrow let's hope they announce something. Even a paper launch with a fixed date for launch in a few weeks. Won't hold my breath though. They will probably talk about APU's and Zen in like 2 years time lol.

Which one do you believe it to be?

I honestly don't know, but seriously if the damned thing needs a 375 Watt power inlet with HBM (is supposed to reduce power consumption) and still can't get to the 980TI with that massive jump in power, then something has gone wrong, very wrong.

A bigger GDDR5 Tonga card would do a better job.
