I know 32nm half node was cancelled, just like half node.20nm.
But my linear point still stands. They had to.chop a lot out of the 6970 especially shaders to get it to work on 40nm. Humbug feels it's fine to use 28nm so it must be all ok.
:-)

When Humbug gets up around 2pm, you will be for it :D

Don't mind a lot of watts if there's a lot of performance, god only knows what my 7990 uses currently (overclocked and overvolted on water ).

Oh, it doesn't bother me at all, I just heard people banging on about how more efficient it should be etc, yet something watercooled and being the first reference card on the planet to use 2 8 pins isn't coming across as such.

If the 390X matches a 980Ti in performance, with everything aside, it needs to be cheaper. It'll use more power, higher TDP and have less VRAM :p

Difference being nobody stated those cards would be good performance per watt, whereas I've seen a lot of people expecting under 200w from AMDs new flagship because of HBM.

Not seen much of that but have seen more of people expecting the power saved from HBM will go towards more performance on the GPU.

Well seen as we have known for a while now the power envolope is same as a 290x with it likley to use slightly less power and thats about 300 watts and weve seen the Tx and Ti use upto 288 watts its only 20 watts diference. Post above goes power efficency... Only time you woukd assume that is when we know the performance of the new AMD card. We dont so if hes all about power efficency then 980ti or Tx is probably not efficent enough for him either?

Also not seen anyone expecting 200watt gpu lol bit OTT? More like 50 watts less best case?

He's not comparing it to the 980ti or TX though.

It's not over the top, way back when HBM was first mentioned I seen posts saying 150w then when the TX was released people claiming it would have half the TDP of that. People went way over the top thinking how much power HBM would save then not remembering as Final8y has said about that power saving being used for more performance elsewhere.

That would probably be based on throttled +/-1ghz clocks with power limit set to 0%
R9 285 itx comes with 1x 8pin, so probably looking at voltage refined stock cf285 with 30-40 watts on top?
