Good relative to? For it to be considered good, it'd have to have better price/perf than a 980ti.

Why it has to be better? If what they told is true (around 290X power consumption), then its around 40% grunt on the same power consumption.

No, but it is a worthless fact unless you take the gpu's release date into account.

Its still a fact whether you think it matters or not.
AMD had the 8GB DDR5 card out 7 months before all the NV consumer cards.

Because then how can it be considered good? I wouldn't consider the 980Ti great perf/watt personally. So, to me, anything worse isn't good. Surely that's just logic?

EDIT : Woops, I meant perf/watt. And again, same point either way, the 980Ti doesn't offer good price/perf at all, so how could a 390X be good if it was less :p?

So, playing the who was first game. Isn't that basically the definition of a losing argument?

Yeah its sad, but no one was saying that AMD have a 8GB DDR5 card out what excuse does NV have for not releasing a 8GB DDR5 980 or Titan back then, nope not a peep from anyone and now besides the TitanX why no 980ti 8GB, 8GB 980 or 6GB 5.5GB 970.

Well what i have seen only the 980 has better perf/watt ratio, even the 970 is worst than the TX.

So atleast you agree the Tx and Ti are not power efficent then. Took a few post down. Not sure why people even care till we see the performance. I mean ppl care about power envolope over performance? Its using no more than a. 290x confirmed slightly less possibly and 290x wasnt even tht hard to keep cool. Just the reference cooler was tht bad it painted the launch in a bad light. I guess they just want to avoid that again.

It's inaudible when the are other things drowning it out. When your PSU fan, case fans and CPU cooler fans are all silent then things are different ;)

Not really, you can set the fan to the minimum speed when using the AIO which is 22% and no louder than any silent fans from other components will be, as said it's inaudible. Besides the point anyway as the fan on the rad will be much more noticeable.

They did make gm204 on 8gb/6gb but only for laptops as gm204 was never intended as a true high end desktop part, they needed to leave the headroom to force people to pay for the gm200 980ti /titan x.

As to the 980ti at 8gb can't be done due to the memory bus width of 384bit.
You would have to have a seperate unbalanced memory portion/controllers to reach 8gb.

I know which is a valid excuse, but for some reasons AMD being the first to use brand new tech and maybe limited to 4GB initially because of the tech itself is not a valid excuse for some.

"Around the designated with the codename Fiji GPU are four stacks of video memory, along to this combination are the fastest graphics card in the world - said AMD vice president Matt Skinner a few minutes earlier."

"The two 8-pin connectors allow together with the PCIe slot theoretically a power consumption of up to 375 watts, but AMD's Graphics CEO Joe Macri said Golem.de that Fiji graphics card should not require more energy than the Radeon R9 290X. Thus, should the upcoming models remain at under 300 watts - possibly even significantly."

AMD clearly believe this is faster than the Titan X, unless they are pretending it doesn't exist. Titan X owners prepare to be dethroned (Means me as well :p).
