My strap adaptors for my Sport Space Grey arrived today from China, absolutely no idea if the colour matches (probably not) or if they will fit nicely (probably not) but for the price they were worth a punt...

Edit - and just got my Watch dispatch email - coming tomorrow! :D

Edit 2 - urgh, email says delivery tomorrow, actual tracking page says 10th-15th still.

How shameless do you have to be to do a near frame-by-frame copy of an Apple Watch advert?

Especially when you've spent the last 3 months bragging about how your laptops have more than one USB port and lauding your misplaced "superiority" over a competitor around like a spoilt child.

In terms of using it just as a sport HR monitor, calorie counter, (which admittedly was something that attracted me to buying it)

If i have my watch with my phone close by, when cycling (so its using the GPS) it mirrors the calories used to my Sigma ROX bike computer. It knows the speed and HR and correctly calculates the calories burnt. Of course this is approximate.. It doesn't know if you're riding uphill, flat, alone or drifting or on a windy day... blah blah blah... but the numbers fall in line with the Sigma.

Leave the phone at home and go on a cycle, and all it has to go on is the HR, and it sells you short on the calories by a good 40%

It could be that the watch is learning? Maybe after a couple of weeks, it'll say ok, this guy does so much of this and that, so if his HR is this much, then he's probably burning this many calories..

ATM, how does it know if i'm just unfit and struggling at low speed..... That's the only conclusion i could come up with, on why its selling you short on the calories.

Yeah, UK Mail site is saying tomorrow for me as well, so screw the Apple site :D

How do you check without a tracking number? Is there a way round.

I haven't had an email yet but preparing for despatch and been charged.

/ scratch that just received the email - UPS tomorrow

Got my despatch email from Apple at 6.15 pm today - says on there 'Delivers 5/6/15', but that won't happen surely? More likely to be Monday/Tuesday next week surely?

That said, I've just put the tracking number in the UK Mail website and it says 'Booked 4/6/15, expected delivery date 5/6/15'.

All seems a bit too rapid to me, considering that this time last night my delivery date was changed to 10-15 June. Obviously won't be complaining if it does turn up tomorrow!

Well according to MR, the UPS plane landed at East Midlands this evening, so I presume they get labeled up at the hub and shipped out. Quite impressive really

Had my text and despatch emails, yeah adnams mine did that to but definitely out for delivery today,

Just wee'd a little....out for delivery to UPS pickup point /saves me worrying about missing home delivery

Enjoying mine so far, a few quirks and I can see why people have said it has a steeper learning curve than most Apple devices.

Also need to get a "proper" strap, not keen on the sport band.

Got mine bang on 1pm today - paired and sync'd in about ten minutes or less. Have installed only certain apps at the moment, rather than going all-in. Lovely bit of kit - sport strap is comfy and doesn't pull on arm-hairs ... if anything I would have liked the screen a bit bigger, but obviously they don't make 'em bigger than 42mm!

I can't get raise to wrist to display the watch face every time, even though I have that selected in the options. It always shows the last thing I was looking at, apps, menus, options etc.

Shouldn't it go straight back to the watch face as soon as the display goes off, or is there a time-out period?

Edit - nvm, seems there is a period of time the screen has to be off before it will do it.

Just wanted to add, my battery life seems to be getting better and better.. 1st day full use (this Tues), i almost ran out of battery by 8pm, suggesting to myself that i'll need a top up during the day.

But yesterday, hammered the thing, installing apps, ran it for 90mins of solid exercise so that the HR leds were constantly on.. Thing got me to 11pm (time for bed) with about 20% left on the battery... So may of just taken a couple of charges and discharges to get better capacity.

First thoughts after a few hours with it:

  • Triaging emails - I am already loving doing this on the Watch. Quickly skimming the content of an email before deciding whether to delete it outright or just dismiss it for now and read it later on the iPhone is great
  • Activity tracker - fascinated, nay obsessed, with this and have now deleted the pedometer app I had been using on my phone ... apparently I walked 1.6 miles yesterday since putting the Watch on at just after 1pm
  • Making calls - my 13-year-old Volvo doesn't have one of those fancy-schmancy built-in bluetooth setups, so I couldn't resist finding an excuse to ring the missus from the car on the way home yesterday. Great not having to fart about with a bluetooth earpiece - the speaker on the Watch could do with being a little louder (quite usable as-is, just a bit louder ideally), but she could hear me perfectly
If there's one negative so far, it's with the screen size - in all the YouTube clips I'd watched over the last few weeks, the 42mm size looked so much bigger. When I took mine out of the box yesterday, first thing I did was flip it over and make sure they hadn't sent me the smaller one by mistake. Then again, I am long overdue an eye-test, but like most blokes keep avoiding the issue :o

It's by no means an ESSENTIAL gadget - not yet anyway - but given more time with it, I could easily see me missing it if I didn't have it. Not regretting buying it in the slightest.

After selling mine I can say I miss it and didn't realise how much I actually used it, I used to come home leave my phone in the living room where it would stay all night . So when I retreat to mancave id use the watch to reply msgs and email etc ... Now I have to keep the phone nearby which is a pain!!

Good news is my SS version is only 9-11 days away :)

Good news is SS version is noticeably better quality than the alu (although the alu is still really good quality).
