My Boxster which I've had for about 6 months. I have an 07 plate Focus for a run around but finding it harder to pick up the keys for that every day!

On Monday some ***** at work has dented my door, I was on the end of a row so my passenger side wheels were into the driving lane of the car park (not causing an obstruction or making it harder for people to navigate btw) and even with at least nearly two feet of space between the next bay, the arse has managed to put a dent on my drivers door right on the top crease line, was so hard I had to clay the paint transfer off, luckily no paint damage to my car, as the green is a nightmare to sort. Just noticed another small dent on the other side of my car this morning as well, which looks like another door dent, people are scum.

After 9 reliable and sensible months in a Saab 9-3 turbo, it was time for a change following funds recovering from house purchase:

September 2006 BMW 335i SE auto
89k with FSH and receipts for nearly all services
Sapphire black with coral red dakota leather interior

I'm not sure exactly what spec was standard in the 335i but the car appears to have all of the options I'd want anyway:
- Xenons with high-beam assist
- Pro-nav
- Electric & heated sports seats
- Sport steering wheel with paddle shift
- Cruise with brake function
- Bluetooth
- PDC
- Auto lights, wipers, dimming mirrors
- Light package

It isn't perfect, needs some cosmetic work but the car has clearly been cared for mechanically it's whole life. It is absolutely immense fun, I can't describe the feeling I got as I accelerated onto the motorway with the power I didn't actually think I'd be able to afford one (capital wise) and was looking mostly at excellent, low mileage e46 330ci's but I managed to do a great deal on the above and pushed myself to get there. The running costs are going to be nuts but I only do 12-15k/year so hoping I can justify it. Sold the Saab for asking to the first viewer too :)

Ireland is an absolute bargain for large engined cars at the moment as annual road tax for this is €1494/year. I got a great deal on it due to the fact that the market is nearly non-existant for cars like these in Ireland. It used to be the other way around (I used to go to the UK to buy my cars) but realistically after registration fees etc, a similar 335i would have cost me £2500 more if I'd bought it in the UK

loltim - classic OCUK motors spirit :p It has BMW dealer stamps for the first 2 services and receipts for the rest. This is Ireland - most people don't even bother getting their cars serviced, never mind keeping receipts/stamping books :p I'm going to contact the dealer (serviced the car for first 55,000 miles of life) and see if I can get a copy of the invoices.

Tim is right. You should have invoices along with the stamps you had.

I want to see an invoice to back the stamp up.

Good luck with that then because any invoices for service work on my car would have been sent direct to BMW UK and not the owner. You don't get invoices if you don't pay for the work and many cars have service packs etc. Are you saying no sub 5 year old BMW has FSH? What rubbish.

A stack of paperwork is a nice thing to have, not a requirement for FSH. The legitimacy of the stamps are easily verified with most marques. A fully stamped service book with all services carried out correctly at the correct intervals = FSH.

No, i never said that? Let's not all go into full on ******* mode shall we foxxy... ;)

I was agreeing to the stamp means diddly without a receipt/invoice.

You should have some kind of receipt/document that will back up your service plan.

But my point is that this simply isn't true.

Nope, nothing. It's held electronically and no proof is needed to obtain service. It's not even just a service pack thing - buy almost any used car from a main dealer and it's not going to come with the original owners stack of documents even if he traded it in with them all present and correct. So are you now saying that no car bought from a main dealer has FSH?

FSH = Full Service History. A fully stamped service book at the correct intervals is sufficient evidence of full service history. Is it categorically not true to state that a car doesn't have FSH unless it also has the original invoices for all the work done.

A stack of invoices is a bonus element above FSH, not a prerequisite for FSH.

I hate smart people.

Ok, fair enough I cannot argue with that. Though I still never said your 5 year old car hasn't got FSH.

To me, no papers/proof to back up the service history just sounds alarm bells. Way I was reading into it and saying Tim was right in that stamps mean diddly. Guess me n Tim are use to buying older cars where backed up history helps a lot.

Really? Not many used cars from main dealers come with all the bills and receipts.
Buying privately without papers would set alarm bells ringing for me, but not from a dealer.
