Question to the masses:
When Davos gave her the present and went away, did he know what was to happen? Was that why he gave her a gift, or was he just saying, see you in a few days love?

Anyone else surprised at the Harpies taking down the chap Dany was going to marry? I had assumed all along he was the harpy.
-edit
Also after the recent stacks of dumpvilles and random attacks, could the 'thousands' of unsullied not have considered a larger royal guard contingent?

I felt like Davos didn't think he'd actually secure supplies. Stannis sent him instead of a runner/scout because the black watch wouldn't simply give away the food/horses/supplies to keep that army going and it would be tougher to say no to him plus he wanted Davos out of the way. Davos wanted to take the family with him because he feared they'd die, either in battle or from the conditions. Remember he was told not to return without supplies and he thought he may not be coming back. Present was because he felt like he was abandoning her/Stannis at that point, not because he knew what was coming.

I also think Stannis sent him rather than anyone else because he knew Davos would indeed fight him over the decision.

As someone who hasn't read the books (and unfortunately, really doesn't have time to..)

How far through 'Of fire and ice' are we? Are we still waiting for the final book from George?

There's two more books due (at least), and many plot lines have caught up to the most recent book and some have surpassed it.

The TV show is no longer reliant on the books and will get to the end (whatever that may be) before George arr arr Martin does.

Oh, that is interesting. Thanks. I wonder if that will spoil it for fans of the books waiting for the last instalments?

In some character's storylines we are seeing new material whereas in other storylines they are quite behind and some whole arcs haven't even been touched yet eg Theon's family.

We've had 5 books, and 5 TV seasons (finishing next week), 2 more books expected, the winds of winter, and a dream of spring. So perhaps 2 more TV seasons. It is possible the fat man might manage to land a book in the next year before the TV season is aired, but the VT will be filmed well before that occurs, so they'll go their own way, know the ending, and will sort their own text and conclusions.

Tonight, Arya, he wasn't hungry, did the faceless man believe her, or just not bother to hit her with a stick as they were not playing the game?

Am I the only one who also wonders about Jorah Mormont and his greyscale. Im guessing he has infected several people now.

How infectious is grayscale, they didn't really tell us in the Tv series did they?
His actual scale is covered, so unless he touches them or bleeds upon them?

Can Dany get sick? She's immune to fire in theory, I was expecting a display of such tonight, unfortunately not to be.

Hope Stannis gets the Reek treatment now, come on Ramsay  :(.

Thought the episode wasn't living up to the usual episode 9 standards (though it was still great) and then the final scene happened. Well worth the complete bore her storyline has been for a while now.

I'm really liking the Dorne king too, though I can't help thinking there's a more sinister side to him living up to the serpent imagery associated with Dorne.

That death scene was one of the hardest bits of TV to watch since the Spooks deep fat fryer; and we didn't even see anything. That little actress can certainly scream...

The dragons are only around 10 years old

I somehow doubt we've had 10 years on screen in the last 4 seasons.
My own mistake... 299 AC - Dragons born.

A Dance with Dragons takes place in 300 AC.

So they're only about a year old!

Just the idea of it is just terrible and shows how silly they are to put all their faith in some deity.

Love the dragons though, but the CGI is a bit iffy....

Are you sure? One year, i doubt it can be such a short passage of time for the duration of all his books, it takes weeks to travel a road from the north to kingslanding afterall, or sail a ship.
I thought it was years.
