Hi OCUK

I need your help looking for a SSD m2. card. I have a hyper x SSD 120gb at the moment but looking to take advantage of the m2 port on the motherboard. I will keep the 120gb and just use that for games etc.

My motherboard is Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5 Intel Z97

Which I believe can use upto 10gb.

What do you recommend ?

While you wont get full speed from an SM951, I'd still suggest you get one.

It will be quicker than the other variants (Plextor M6e for example) and if you ever get a new board that supports an 'Ultra' M.2 you can double the speed, so to an extend it's future proof.

You could always buy a Asus hyper m.2 x4 card and then get the full speed out of a sm951.

Just got one myself which i'm using on a Msi z97 gaming m/b, get real good speeds.

Had a panic at first because it wouldn't boot from the sm951 but after a bios update it was no problem.

Ive done the same on my Z97. 250GB stuck in a Asus Hyper gets me these speeds.

The latest bios got released 6 months ago but boots fine but do have problems switching between my normal drive and the m.2 if I dont clear the CMOS in between.
