the 2xx do support dx12 your getting confused with all the that crap talk for feature levels. 2xx series support the stuff gamers are interested in thats all you need to know instead of diving deep into feature levels which is what game devs want to know about.

Great. Looks like my lightning will be staying with me for quite a while yet.

you cannot say it will only be fine for 1080p gaming as we do not know how HBM memory works in games compared to gddr5. A game may consume the same amount on both types or maybe AMD has some voodoo in place that will allow for lower memory requirements, we simply do not know at this point.. Besides 4 gigs should be enough for 1440p ultrawide in most cases going by traditional means anyway.. Also traditional ram measurement(run game, measure ram used through afterburner) is pretty faulty at best as games can usually utilize more than required if the memory is there to begin with leaving an inaccurate picture of what the real requirements are..

4GB is fine for 8K gaming and I am not joking :)

I wish it was just all out already so the speculation could stop. If they prove good, buy one, if they prove crap.. But a 980ti.

Will be nice to see facts in this thread by end of next week.

I'm pretty sure NVidia have never rebranded virtually their entire product line though, it's one thing plugging one or two holes in a lineup with rebrands and quite another trying to pass off a whole series of older GPU's as a new generation.

Indeed. Rebranding a 290x as a 380 for example would perhaps make sense but rebranding it as a 390x is a bit rubbish.

I am D Revolution coming for gaming :D

Gonna go buy some 8K screens

it may well be that you will need dx12 to get fury x to sing at 8k, which is not a problem for me as there will be plenty of titles out there by Christmas.

I will not be mourning the passing of dx11.

if fury x is limited in dx11 at 4k I won't care.

I'll be honest, I thought the 390x was flagship until only a few days ago when I heard about the Fury/X. AMD are playing a dangerous game here!

I hadn't really been following it, and I thought that too, which is why when people were saying the 390X was a rebrand, I thought they were trolling.

Now that there is going to be a higher tier product, the 390X being a rebrand is almost inevitable to me.

People are going to buy a 390x assuming it's the flagship.
That's what is going to annoy me.

If they were stupid enough to do that and have done little to no research then they deserve what they get.

2 days to go, let's see where the chips fall.

Exactly. I get to practice my mental arithmetic every time I go to the supermarket because they try to con you with their ridiculous pricing.one of the reasons I prefer the likes of Lidl and Aldington ;)

And as we have seen, they already have. That poor guy (who i really sympathised with) on that youtube unboxing link was caught out and he won't be alone.

I know this has been done in this thread somewhere.

When I saw that video.... The anti static bag was too wrinkled for a brand new card.....

Those prices don't smell right to me, if the 390x is a simple rebrand then the price of the 970 puts a ceiling on what anyone would be prepared to pay for it. Surely AMD can't be that daft so either the prices are wrong or there have been improvements to the 390x more impressive than a small clock bump.

AMD could be counting on people being suckered in by the 8gigs of memory after the 970 fiasco. I really hope that is not the case and the 390X does have more going for it than a slight overclock to a near 2 year old GPU.

Yeah, hopefully they are at least more efficient and so will o/c further. Do we know what driver version these are shipping with ? Also, surprised we're not seeing a lot more bench marks, now that they are getting into peoples hands.
