GTX 780 still a good card for 145 used?

A better bet would have been the 970 when nvidia were offering 2 free games. I got the Gigabyte gtx970 for £245 sold the 2 game codes on ebay so a gig 970 for £210, what would be the point of a new dx11 card purchase when dx12 is out next month.

You make a good point with windows 10 and DX12 it makes sense I guess...will 780 really miss out on much ?

Ebay is still a reasonable metric of what to expect. If I were to sell my old 780 on there even after their cut I'm almost guaranteed as much as I'd get selling to a friend/someone else with a decent level of tech knowledge. Sometimes the prices are inflated but that doesn't affect the overall view it presents. Desperate idiots? Rubbish (and I say that as someone who rarely buys anything from there, and usually only small odds and sods).

A new card that can match a 780 would cost over £200 (290 is the cheapest) so this is a good deal, second hand high-end GPUs hold their value well especially in an age where new generations only offer incremental progress.

I'm just going off some of the posts above saying 780s selling for £200.

At 200 the 780 is not worth it...

But at 145 it was worth my while to sell my 7950 and get a 780 for 70 quid outlay...

My second system is going to pack a punch for not much outlay

£95 for the 4690k selling the G3258 for £40 = £55
£145 for the 780 selling the 7950 for £75 = £70

Total £125 outlay....not bad bang for buck! :D

Nice. £145 seems decent and should be a good upgrade. I upgraded to my lightning 290x when they were £259, sold the games which took it down to £215.

That was coming from a 7950 which I sold for £90 so ended up a £125 upgrade.

Loved my 7950 though, cracking little card :)

But we're not talking about new cards... they're second hand.

A second hand card, still in warranty that can match and beat a 780 in certain scenarios (290X) are selling for £130-140 ;)

Only Nvidia are still better :p lol

He severely ripped someone off... considering they are mostly going for £145-160 lately.
