Do I need to explain to you why this means nothing? Although that would really show just how blind you are.

The card launched 5th of November, not before. You're just digging holes. Yet you say I'm determined.
You are wrong, that is all that's important.

When the card was put on the shelves is irrelevant, its when the BIOS was build that matters, the BIOS is not built the day it goes on sale.

TPU is full of BIOS builds that date before you say they are released.

A 15.049 BIOS cannot date from October 24'th 2013, TPU's BIOS data base proves that, this is the last BIOS http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/168095/powercolor-r9290-4096-150104.html
15.048 it dates from 02/02/15.

The 390X sceenshot here can only be a fake.

I am not too sure as the 390X 8GB custom boards seem price pitched between the 970 and the 980. The Gigabyte G1 is cheaper than the cheapest 980.

If the 390X chip is a re-spun Hawaii with some improved circuitry it puts it about level with the 980 and will beat it in some Ultra benches due to the VRAM.

That leaves the Fury X to trade blows with the 980ti and TX which it looks like it does.

Without drawing too many conclusions it looks like performance and price parity
is maintained with Nvidia without changing the status quo too much while AMD waits for 16nm.

For Nvidia to blow AMD out of the water, they need to drop the 980ti down to 390X levels.

This would be acceptable had the 970 and 980 not had a 9 month headstart! If they are simple tweaks/ re-brands why wait so long and let everyone buy 970's and 980's.

You're being a fool!

GPUZ doesn't relfect the BIOS date! You have made NO valid argument at all.

The thing about the 980/970 (and why they were so popular) is that at the moment of launch they achieved flawless victory status.

Compared to competition:

-less power
-better performance
-cheaper
-more features

Once the first impressions and reviews went out the damage was done. Yes kepler cards were EOL'd and AMD dropped their prices but once the first impression had been formed there was no stopping the maxwell train.

Could look at it another way as well i suppose, if all AMD have to do is OC their old cards to match/beat the 970/80s, then Nvidia should have made more of an effort :p

Why waste all that money a new card costs, when a simple OC will do the job :D

Nvidia have only brought out 2x cards that AMD can't match with a simple OC, so they are having to bring out a new cards to match those :p

NVidia have (like Intel with CPU's) been focussing on improving efficiency and reducing manufacturing costs though, AMD have been left behind in that regard and they're in a financial spiral because of it. I'll happily bet that 390X doesn't have a 256-384bit memory bus that matches 290X's 512bit one.

AMD are producing more complex and expensive hardware just to match their competitors and are having to sell them cheaper because they're less attractive due to certain qualities (higher TDP, power draw etc). It's only going to end one way.

AMD are losing marketshare, a rebrand isn't exactly going to help them retake marketshare if their current stuff is losing marketshare :p

i dont think it can hurt, aslong as it dont get them a lot negative press
people like new stuff
people dont understand recycled chips, only us nerds do :)

there is some added problems right now tho, people buying 4k tv's they NEED hdmi2 and then u got the whole which cards support freesync etc
they need to make it easier for consumer >.<

Only in the graphic card forum can a thread create so much hate amongst people.

With just two days to go and many of you on a first strike already.

Imagine not being able to post for a few days even after the 300 series announcement.

What did I miss. A whole page of deleted posts!

We still waiting for fury?

Humbug got hold of a Fury and leaked some benchmarks. Broke NDA though so Stulid had to remove it :(

:p
