Radeon R9 290X

A R9 290X by Sapphire
The Radeon R9 290X, codename "Hawaii XT", was released on Oct 24, 2013 and features 2816 Stream Processors, 176 TMUs, 64 ROPs, 512-bit wide buses, 44 CUs (compute units) and 8 ACE units. The R9 290X had a launch price of $549.

Radeon R9 290
The Radeon R9 290 and R9 290X were announced on September 25, 2013.[15][16] The R9 290 is based on AMD's Hawaii Pro chip and R9 290X on Hawaii XT. R9 290 and R9 290X will support AMD TrueAudio, Mantle, Direct3D 11.2, and bridge-free Crossfire technology using XDMA. A limited "Battlefield 4 Edition" pre-order bundle of R9 290X that includes Battlefield 4 was available on October 3, 2013, with reported quantity being 8,000. The R9 290 had a launch price of $399.

Radeon R9 285

And this fits well with my memory cause i bought the 780 lightning end oktober 2013 because i wasnt interested in reference design 290x and third party was rumoured to be entering the market earliest january 2014 but ended up coming to market december 2014 if i remember correctly.

Only in the graphic card forum can a thread create so much hate amongst people.

With just two days to go and many of you on a first strike already.

Imagine not being able to post for a few days even after the 300 series announcement.

Do what you gotta do. Fed up of having valid posts being deleted because someone tells lies then goes and cries about it with the report button when someone pulls them up.

If AMD can release a cut down Fury at under £500, it could entice prospective 390X owners who would otherwise be left disappointed by the rebrands.

There wasn't any 290X available (As in, to actually own) on the 3rd of October though, if I recall it was a unique pre-order deal, which was more akin to registering interest. No specs, no price, no benchmarks. A simple place holder. Actual launch wasn't till October 24th for the 290X.

That is correct but the wiki also says this. The pre order bundle went live that day if memory serves me well.

Why does time seem to move slower the closer we get to the 16th? :(

I really want AMD to blow our socks off, particularly with the Fury, I really want to see what HBM bring to the table in terms of performance.

It needs to be way way way under £500, a 290 is under £250, what 290 owner is going to look at a 290X rebox for £350 and how many 290X owners who didn't buy their GPU's early are going to up their budget by £200?

290/X owners with £300 budgets have nothing, 280X owners with £300 budgets have nothing if the rumored £350 Price is correct.

Well, there is always Nvidia. if these rumors are true AMD are about to fall flat on their face and probably never recover.

Talk about the cards, not who has strikes etc.

Weren't they discussing the cards? From what I could see they were arguing whether they were rebrands or not.

Only mentioning strikes as I received my 1st for apparently taking a thread off topic for a few pages, yet others seem to get away with it no problem.

Graphics card hoodlums at there finest. No sure what worst this or football. :p

On topic.

Hope AMD don't drop the ball on this one, competition is good.
Don't want Nvidia to be the next Intel! :(

AMD should price their cards as they did the 290X/290.

The Flagship Fiji being 450+, and the second tier Fiji being 350+.

300 pound shouldn't be an upgrade option for someone currently with a 290X.

Flagship 290X's can be had for less than 230 quid!

No,

The posts contained both baiting/arguing/info on cards etc.

I aint going through post by post editing specific parts when I can instead choose the easier option of ticking which posts I want gone that look dodgy and just do a group delete.

Any more and I will do strikes you can be assured of that.
