Chris Evans to host top gear

My sources have just informed me that Chris agreed to do the deal because the BBC agreed to one of his demands.

That demand being that he could pick his own co presenters...... Zig and Zag are back.
 
predictable choice is predictable.

Be interesting to see who they get in alongside him and how they change the format, if they stick to the current format it will fail as the comparisons will be too direct but with some clever tweaks they might land up with something that sort of works.

Top Gear will “definitely, 100 per cent” have a female presenter in its new line-up, Chris Evans has said.

Evans, announced as Jeremy Clarkson's replacement on the BBC Two show, said there would be at least one woman, chosen not “for the sake of it” but because of their passion for cars.

Not sure this is the right way to go about it... Why not just pick the best person for it not say there has to be a woman involved.

I think people put too much stock in the presenters. Top Gear is the work of one of the greatest production teams. Writers and Crew who bust their balls to make it what it is. Clarkson and Co were good, obviously, but to complain that Evans is too scripted insinuates that they weren't? Thats crazy, Top Gear was SO scripted. Every little detail planned and acted out. Clarkson was controversial and would say stuff that hits headlines, sure, and you're not going to recreate that (and probably will take time to develop a smiliar comedy trio with chemistry)... but the show is still the same thing. They're just different faces dancing the same dance.
 
People saying it was bad because it became less and less about cars... that's what has made it so massively popular, globally.

Focusing too much on cars (technically) will alienate a large portion of the audience. The car theme has effectively become a vehicle for the presenters.

The presenters made it what it is, nobody could replace them, certainly not the likes of Evans. I've nothing against him but I find him rather boring and irritating at the best of times.

Hopefully the likes of Amazon/Netflix will pick up Clarkson & co, they stand to make a fortune...
 
Lets hope they come up with something new for the programme, refresh it somewhat. As much i as liked topgear it had become very repetitive.. similiar gags and pranks week in week out.
 
Those people who are adamant they aren't going to watch it just because JC RH + JM aren't in it, make me laugh. I bet you will watch it, even if it's out of curiosity. So quick to write it off before it's even made.

I think Evans will probably be OK at it. Unfortunately for the BBC he hasn't exactly got a record of being on his best behaviour. So whether he will last 3 years is another question.

Top Gear has become the motor equivalent of the WWE.

Shallow entertainment which has forgotten it's roots.
