*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Social media != the majority of people that play the game.

Besides that, plenty of weapons have been hit with the nerf bat, people cried when Suros was nerfed, people cried when Vex was nerfed. They'll get over it.

+1

i would prefer it was completely removed so pvp takes real skill into account. if they won't remove it then they have to re-release it.

I could see the backlash be much bigger when its guns youve had to put a lot of resources into just to reroll to be perfect for them only to be removed.

The other weapon balancing was done to weapon type so affected everyone the same

In this situation, I wonder why Bungie did anything as ultimately them fiddling is a lose-lose.

i've never seen anyone not abusing the perk now.

even yesterday in normal crucible i get 3-5 kills in the first minute with praedyths. some noob switches his loadout and final rounds me a couple of times in a row before i realise what he's doing.

they either need to remove it from all snipers or let people reforge it on theirs. if they don't then it's a horrible mismatch. the backlash of the community that it's no longer available has been strong i would have thought.

they can nerf vex (an exotic) into the ground yet they can't some iron banner legendary?

either remove it or let everyone have it. letting some people have it is just ridiculous.

You're talking apples and oranges when you compare the nerf of the Vex to removing Final Round. The Vex wasn't changed as such, the nerf just changed its damage output. If you remove Final Round you are fundamentally changing how a lot of sniper rifles work. It's not just Efrideet's Spear that has it on. I have an LDR with the perk that I got from a faction package. A lot of people will have the perk on other weapons. It won't just be a handful of people with a rolled Spear that are using it.

Besides, I think you might be overstating how much it's abused, certainly in normal crucible. If I'm sniped by someone, it's a rarity for it to be a Final Round weapon these days.

For the record, I actually don't use my LDR with Final Round in Crucible any more. I don't abuse Final Round and I never have, but I still don't see the merit in removing it. If you're going to remove the perk because it's OP, there are a number of other perks that could get removed for the same reason.

No, social media isn't the majority of people who play Destiny, but they are the vocal ones, and Bungie have shown time and time again that they are willing to listen to those vocal ones. Until those vocal ones are the ones calling en masse for Final Round to be removed, it simply won't happen because a few people are moaning about it.

I will say that if they want to do something with Final Round, I'd simply replace the perk with Luck in the Chamber. You'll still get a one shot body kill when it procs, but because of the random nature of it, you couldn't abuse it either. That's not something I'd particularly like to see, but it's something I could live with.

that's a really great idea and then let everyone have it on the new snipers too with re-forges.

that seems like a solution most would be happy with too. remove it from all snipers that have it and switch it to luck in the chamber.

i could then use my praedyths without having to worry about someone firing 2 shots into the ground then bodyshotting me.

You don't design games for Reddit. You design your games based on how people play it, which comes from the insanely large player tracking and data mining operation Bungie will have.

Often what the tiny % of Destiny players that provide feedback on social media wants is in line with what the data is telling them, but don't mistake it for Destiny being driven by moaners.

Oh, so what you're saying is that it's completely co-incidental that a lot of the changes that were seemingly made in response to moaning on social media, and they were simply down to in game metrics? The moaning had absolutely nothing to do with it? Despite Bungie themselves admitting that they are very community driven? Oh, okay then.

Gosh maybe I should use my Spear with final perk roll more then... but currently enjoying shotgunning (even though I'm better at sniping that CQB'ing). I have heard of people firing off the first 2 rounds deliberately so they can get that instant kill but I always seem so short of Special Ammo that I prefer not to do that and get the more kills with all the ammo I have!

No, that' not what I said. I was pointing out that correlation between social media feedback and changes implemented is not completely, or even likely mostly causal.

Just because Reddit isn't awash with people moaning about final round spear's (seems to be plenty mind), doesn't mean that it won't change. If the metrics are telling them that ES FR is giving an unfair advantage, particularly in trials, they'll change it.

Especially as the redditors are likely to be more serious players, WITH ephidreet's spear, their feedback is skewed, and the game metrics are even more important.

That is true, the players who are on social media like Reddit and the Bungie forums are going to be more likely to be rocking a Final Round sniper. That does mean though, that if Bungie remove the perk, those forums will absolutely go mental. With Bungie being so community driven, I don't think they'd risk angering that community in that way, no matter what the metrics are telling them. They've already done what they feasibly can by removing the perk from the new perk tables, but I honestly don't see them removing it from the game completely.

I dont understand how broken the Final Round perk was for Sniper rifles in PvP when theyve already reduced the amount of special ammo. It just seems to be an unneeded change.

Was Destiny PvP just full of snipers and camping?

1 of the games i had a 5+ k/d ratio in trials.

if you look at my overall stats though they are pretty average that is because i don't care about stats, i actually play very aggressively and try and capture points i know i don't stand much chance of capturing when playing with randomers and in iron banner. i play for fun not for stats.

Well done, but what is your overall Trials K/D?

Are we really doing the "I could be good if I wanted to be, but I don't try"? I think everyone plays for fun, as far as I know there is no pro/MLG status for Destiny. Fair enough if you don't care about stats, but better players will have better stats, its the nature of the beast.

those with good stats usually don't bother capturing points they let the 5 others on the team do them whilst they stand back and mop up kills. i could play like that and sometimes i do on some maps where i run to B capture it then sit back and defend it. otherwise you lose the game if you don't.

That's because you have to have "slayers" in control. If they don't actively try to get kills and limit the traffic to the control points, it becomes harder to "Control" the game.

explain how using a gun like the last word, where you don't have to aim down the sights on a handgun. can rapidly shoot 7 bullets with next to zero feedback/pull up from the gun is not a noobs weapon? it's also completely devastating at mid range. that type of gun should either have massive stability issues or be useless at anything beyond 15 feet. the gun just doesn't make any sense.

It doesn't have to make sense, its an exotic hand cannon and that's the unique perk. Either use it and be as good or better than the other player, or counter it with another weapon. I don't understand where we are going with these discussions? Lets make every gun in the game have the same damage/range/fire rate?

They're not "noob" guns simply because they still take some skill to use. TLW and Thorn won't instantly turn a poor player into a good one. They're top tier guns and will certainly be very effective for a poor player to use, but a poor player with Thorn is still a poor player. A poor player with Thorn will still get beaten by a good player using virtually any weapon, simply because of the skill difference.

/Thread. Agreed Davey.

it shows up in the bottom corner if it's a headshot or not ;)

It doesn't. Rumored for TTK DLC, but not at the moment, it just shows: Player 1 [Weapon] Player 2

I love anything that causes easy completion of Forum Tears bounties on Reddit and the Bungie boards ;)

Removing/nerfing Final Round would be hilarious!

I think it's mostly an issue since Trials launched and sniping is a far more common tactic that it uses to be in most crucible/IB. With Ephidreet's Spear being very high impact and only a 3 round mag, it means you get an easy OHK body-shot at sniper range at the beginning of a round.

Personally I'm not that fussed. I just think the situation they have now where only pre-HoW versions of the gun can roll that perk is a bit of an abberation.

I think that is going to turn out to be very map dependant tbh. Last week in the Cauldron I saw very little sniping, it was all Thorn and Shotguns.

i use thorn btw in fact i got a 9-0 on my first attempt in trials at the weekend there using it.

Your overall trials k/d is 1.07, so yeah, bang on average.

On most of my good trials runs, flawless or not, we were running at least one sniper. I think the chance to quickly take out an opponent from range is too good to give up. Especially if you have a good sniper with you.
