Advice for 3440 x 1440 Resolution Gaming

Looking at the EVGA 980 or Titan X Hydrocopper and the Asus 980 Poseidon as i prefer the waterblock came preassembled. Can any owners of any of these graphics card or people water cooling their gpu give me any insight on performance, temp and overclocking. Are these waterblock any good?

Thanks

Titan X (on air) OCed I'm running 1439/8000, with an aggressive fan profile ~60%, I'm roughly around 75c. Most Xs can do over ~1380Mhz on the core and mem close or at 8K.

I'm using a 4K monitor and I can run most games with no AA at or over 60 FPS other than maybe 3 games I have in my library. I mostly play AAA titles.

Are there any restriction in overclocking as I would push them to the limit as I will be putting it underwater

Sorry to bring this old thread back but as advised i have waited and was wondering if i should wait even longer or go ahead with a 980 ti. I am thinking of getting 2 to sli. Should not bother with sli? I have never tried sli but is it similar to crossfire as i have tried crossfire and i liked it. Cheers

I'm going for this exact setup. 2x 980 Ti at 3440x1440.

Before this I used a single Titan X and it was great. I could play most AAA games at very high using basic AA. So a single 980 Ti would be able to do the same.

2x 980 Ti should be perfect throughout 2015 and into 2016. Should leave us in prime position for when Pascal hits.

Popped a second TX in for 4K. The GTX980Tis are give or take the same performance, they will crush 3440x1440p easily. SLI is a whole different ballgame much much better than CFX.

Is there a waterblock for the 980 ti? I will be putting them under water. Also whats the average overclock on these things? Is a backplate necessary/useful?

TX backplates fit, EKWB should have some blocks out in no time. For air not so much some people have mentioned better VRM temps with a backplate on water (max ~70c with a thermal gun) with heavy core and mem OCs.

They should clock roughly the same with the GTX980Ti having an edge due to more power delivery with the 6GB less VRAM.

1350-1400mhz+ with mem around 8000mhz

With custom bios and on water ~1500-1600

everything max/ultra? single gpu is not gonna be enough.

290/390 cf is an option but they're a bit unreliable when it comes to releasing cf profiles/driver updates on time. if you can wait or happy with the delays go amd.

personally id go nvidia. i get none of those issues above^^

Yeah i am a bit tired of AMD. I had the 6950 HD then the 7950 HD which broke so got a 280x from RMA. Was waiting for a good priced card and from all the benchmarks and review the 980 ti looks very promising. The last Nvidia card that i had was the 560 ti and it wasnt a great or bad. Only issue or problem that i see getting Nvidia is that they will gimp the card once next gen (Pascal?) arrives.

I know this question has been asked about a million times but is EVGA planning on releasing a hydro copper version for the 980 ti? And when would the next batch of 980 ti be available as they are all out of stock. Finally has anyone got an EK block on their 980 ti is it better than the hydro coppers?

Gaming myself on a 3440x1440 and used to do it with a 780 lightning. It did a good job in most games but i will say its the minimum to go for.. Preferable something with 4 gigs of vram and atleas 290x/980 worth of pure performance. GTA 5 eats 4,5gigs of my 6 gigs gaming at 3440x1440. If you have the money and want to buy right now the 980ti is an awwsome experience at this resolution, would however recommend getting one with an aftermarket cooler unless you going to watercool.

I've got a pair of 980 Hydro Coppers and I game at 3440x1400. It's worth nothing that the blocks are made by EK, but they are Swiftech design. Which means EK Terminal blocks do not work with them.

I have a loop with a quad and triple rad and a 5960X. Everything is overclocked and I get about mid 40's under load. Sometimes into the 50's but that's when the ambient temp is high. Usually they never break 40 degrees.

Guys is it worth getting two 390x in crossfire or should I just get the 980 ti? I have tried to get the 980 ti 3 times now and they ran out of stock! I will be watercooling them so heat isnt an issue.

Normally one faster card is a better option than 2.
wait for Fury 24 of june?
