Am I being scammed? (SSD drive question )

I could be wrong but I thought flash memory (eg SSD's) consists of memory blocks, Mechanical drives consist of sectors etc.

I wouldnt be suprised if he's one of those people who put fraps or something on his computer and has been recording to his SSD. I have seen stupid people do this and basically filled the drive up which cannot be healthy for a SSD drive at all.

Could be yet another one of those Ebay threads we are seeing, remember always take photos and write SN numbers down etc to at least try and protect yourself.

could be, the hard drive was never full though, not on my end. Perhaps he is telling the truth, maybe it is faulty. Just seemed kind of strange

I think he wants me to return his money before hes sent it too, must be crazy, here is his original message, sent today ( 20 days after auction ended )

" This item is faulty it has multiple bad sectors and is useless Condition has been certified by a PC engineer, it has cost me money, time and inconvenience Please refund money , by return Thank you "

I replied, and then he said

" The drive is faulty, has multiple bad sectors and does not work, full diagnostics have been run on the drive and it is faulty !
please contact the PC engineer if you require more info

I do not carry out pc work myself, but pay an expert to do it for me
Therefore my pc is sitting on the bench and I will have to buy a new drive to replace the one you supplied
Please refund urgently

Ignore him, it's just someone trying to get a free SSD out of you.

I had someone try and claim the money back for a Corsair 540 I sold. Claimed that the case was not usable as it wasn't sold with any screws to hold the HDD in the tool free sleds lol

exactly, 20 days after he replies and now hes worried about time?

paid for pc engineer for check an ssd which cost him £87 which he could have sent back to samsung for free and got a replacement

£87 for testing hahaha, christ we would have charged £10.

Ask him to take it to a local independant for testing. You know a actual brick and mortar store that you can find online etc. Not someone with a wordpress blog.

no sorry, I meant to say, Paid for testing for an SSD, the ssd cost him £87

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and refund him once its returned

going to check it myself, than may have to relist, annoying

Trouble is how can you be sure he is returning the one you originally sent if you never wrote the serial number down? I said this to someone else in another thread, it is likely the person who bought it of you already has the same SSD as the one you sold only his does not work, he buys yours and it does work, then he sends back to you the one he originally had which did not work, leaving him with a working SSD and you with a returned faulty one.

Having read some more of the posts I agree with the others, sounds like the guy is likely trying to pull a fast one, the wordpress blog thing alone sounds very iffy.

Yeah, I should have took pictures, shame. I will mention to him before he sends it back that I will be comparing serial numbers, hoping to call his bluff. Apart from that there is nothing I can do now

say you want to see a copy of the pc engineers report first before you refund, also contact ebay and tell them you think your being swindled

not making note of serial numbers is crazy, this is where you might lose out

you could have also stated clearly in your advert/listing that drive was tested and working with no faults and posted some benchmarks and ssdlife screenshot, and stated no returns

I shall send ebay a message, would that be under the " report a buyer "?

I have over 370 feedback, and this is first time this has happened. Its a shame

yeah, report them and explain what you think he's trying to do

it pays to cover yourself with proof of a working drive and serial numbers before you post it out, then they cant argue

Looks like an ebay scam.

Tell him, as you said, that you have the serial number for identification and photos. You need the drive first to have it tested for any faults of which you have to send to 'your' PC engineer! Then, if faulty you will get the money back to him in instalments!

If it is tested on my end, and found to be not faulty. Won't ebay side with him anyway?
