So I just returned to the UK a couple of days ago and my Apple Watch 42mm Black/black sports was waiting for me. I'm not sure if I will keep it. I prefer my mechanical watch and so far the apps feel pretty gimmicky and non intuitive especially the interface and way you add/remove apps via an iPhone .

I'll buy it off you :)

Ordered my watch on 15th June, arrived on 18th, since then it hasn't left my wrist apart from when I need to charge it. (38mm space grey /w black sport band btw)

I'm impressed with it, I've been more active physically since getting it, the taptic touch does a good job of waking me up (I use it as a silent alarm, I'm deaf.)

It's going to get better when watchOS 2 is released.

I got mine a fortnight ago yesterday and I absolutely love it. I stand by everything I said earlier in the thread the day after I got it, but it's just got indispensable since then. It's all about convenience rather than necessity mainly, but it's a joy not being such a slave to my phone.

Like Idartalis, the activity tracking has got me more active than I've been in years - it has become something of a matter of honour to complete as many of the three activity rings as possible each day. I did something during the week that for me was quite unheard of - we had run out of milk, so I walked down to Tescos to get it and tracked it using the 'outdoor walk' mode of the Workout app. Only a total round-trip of 1.2 miles, but hell it's a start and got rid of 70 calories.

Right up until the second I clicked 'Buy' on the Apple website I was still having doubts, but now I don't regret it in the slightest. Yes, in its current form it's more of an iPhone accessory/gadget, but still useful even so - and I'm fascinated to see what future models will be capable of in a couple of years time. Huge potential in this device ...

Hmm....I got an email from Apple yesterday saying these are available to purchase in store now.

I kind of got over the idea of getting one after the hype died down, but I'm going to try and go on a fitness push this summer so I'm thinking it could be a worthwhile investment just for that.

Turns out the were in stock at my local store so I pulled the trigger! Black sport version. Got 2 weeks to play with it anyway and see how I get on.

Feels quite nice and looks better on the wrist in person as I thought it might.

After having a play in store with one of the Apple chaps I started to realise how handy it will be to have Siri right on my wrist and probably encourage me to use it more often than finding my phone or pulling it out of my pocket.

Couldn't agree with you more on the above :)

I changed jobs 10 weeks ago, don't need to drive to work so I am walking more, really surprised how far I am actually walking now which is not a bad thing at all & the watch seems to give you incentive to actually do more exercise.

Its perfect to use on my mountain bike too, distance travelled speed etc.

Cheers all

Eeek! The Activity app has obviously noticed I'm more active - when it did my weekly review last night it suggested I increase my daily calorie target ... presumably thought I was hitting the previous target too easily ... damn you, Apple!

Smart watches are a no no for me full stop. What exactly do they do that your smart phone doesn't? A watch is a piece of jewellery as well as a means for telling the time and smart watches fail at this horribly, especially the apple one which looks very fisher price.

I don't own one but I don't think you need to carry your phone with you when out exercising when wearing the watch. If you are out running, or cycling, why carry a 6 or 6+?

So missus who's not really a gadget kinda girl, went out and bought one today.. Stainless 38mm with white silicone strap... Asking me to train her up tonight !

I've got a pebble time steel coming next month, if I don't get on too well with it think I'll take a punt on a apple watch sport. Main reason for going for the pebble is it being platform agonistic meaning I could freely switch between Android/iOS. However I've tried 2 different Apple watches and I must say there better then I had imagined, the software is a bit slow/laggy which is not something I would have guessed, but it seems really usefully and watch OS2 is cool.

Apple watch still doesn't convince me. Seen a few out in the wild and they look kinda bland with the screen off (Kids Sports day one Apple watch 20 Rolexes so they are at the moment rarer than a Rolex :D).
I understand you can check your msgs, emails etc a few seconds faster, but I don't want to be checking things every minute, I check my phone about once a hour, less if I am busy. Seems like a expensive way to save 2 3 seconds of your life every hour or so.....But I do understand it's great for some people, but it's imho not a game changer yet like the iPhone was.
There's something cool about a mechanic watch still too, the way the movement works and the hand sweeps etc, clicking the bezel around to time your eggs is faster and more satisfying than asking Siri

I bit unusual, but I've found it quite handy for cooking so far. I used to use the timer on my phone quite quite a lot when cooking, however I'm quite wary of spilling anything on my phone or touching it when if my hands are messy.

Since wearing the watch it means the timer is always on my wrist, not in my pocket or in the other room if I'm pottering about. So no matter what room I'm in or what I'm doing at the time and I can monitor, edit or set the timer all via voice activation hands free and mess free using 'Hey Siri...'

Personally for me I don't have any issues (SS 42mm) although reports say that the sport version fairs better than the sapphire glass used in the SS
